It has a couple of good scenes if you're into that kind of movie, but overall the species series is pretty tame.

There have been some recent rumblings about Warner picking a side.

http://www.alleyinsider.com/2007/12/pali-sony-snes-bluray-wins-dvd-war-hollywood-loses.html

Quote :
"Rich predicts (reg. required) that the costly format war between Sony and Toshiba/Microsoft (MSFT) will end in 2008, when Time Warner's (TWX) movie studios stop supporting the HD-DVD format, forcing NBC 's (GE) and Viacom's (VIAB) studios to fall in line."

Rich Greenfield is the same guy who leaked the Paramount/HD DVD announcement before it happened (http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/desperation-move-cash-grab-or-intensified-blu-rayhd-dvd-format-war/).

And another article from Businessweek.

http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/07_51/b4063028294846.htm

Quote :
"Now, with the Jan. 7 International Consumer Electronics Show fast approaching, Sony and Toshiba are keen to announce they have won over Hollywood's last holdout. In the meantime, they are falling over themselves to woo Warner. While either side could prevail, the Sony group has suddenly emerged as the front-runner."

I predict that a little while after one of the formats die, dual-format players will be available for just a little more than single-format players.

Finally, B1G1 on HD-DVDs at Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/34ky6b

Heres a response to the above mentioned WB to Blu-Ray exclusivity rumor: http://www.soundadviceblog.com/?p=677

Quote :
"Web forums were ablaze this morning because of a controversial report by Rich Greenfield of Pali Research, saying in 2008 Warner Bros. would cease support of HD DVD and become Blu-ray only. As a syndicated newspaper columnist I have contacts within the industry and found the whole thing suspicious and oddly timed. My PR contacts put me in touch with Jim Noonan, Warner Bros. Senior Vice President and General Manager, for clarification. I received a response almost immediately and his reply is as follows:

“Dear Mr. Lindich, We have made no decision to change our present policy which is to produce in both HD DVD and Blu-ray.”

No denial, no silence as one would expect if change was in the works… I received a quick confirmation that their policy won’t be changing. Nothing surprising here, given Warner’s strong support of the HD DVD format with exclusives such as The Matrix and Batman Begins, as well as Warner’s embracing of HD DVD’s web interactivity on the new Harry Potter titles. To learn more about the differences between the HD DVD and Blu-ray Harry Potter titles, see The State of HD DVD at gizmodo.com.

It is possible Warner could swing one way or the other in 2008, but for now, it’s undecided and that’s straight from a Warner executive."

I just got on the HD-DVD train a month ago, but if WB does turn out to move to BD exclusively, Im fine with it...I just want the format war over so theres no more issue of what movies I can and cant get in HD (outside of the ones just not available on either). I still have my HD-DVD box with all the packaging material, so it can go on ebay and be sold to some unknowing jerk if anything does become official, since theres no way HD-DVD keeps going if BD gets Warner.

well, i'm not saying it either way, but lets be honest here - WB's statement could easily construed to be just that - a denial AND "silence" about their switch to BluRay

Take it at face value. No means no.

Would you really expect Warner to preempt a decision before they've seen the sales of Harry Potter quintillogy, which, btw, comes out today.

define "better" because all I care about is which one has the best audio formats and best picture (both are 1080p). I don't ever use bonus stuff.

yeah, or triple-layer HD DVD... however nobody makes any movies yet on either. BD 1.0 is good enough for me, i'd rather not have to connect my DVD player to the internets, and i don't really care for picture in picture.

when you are back click on

and report back with results for comparison.

I only middle click links...

either way, even if I left clicked it, I hate new windows being spawned, so I'd say that your implementation is the flawed one

if you edit post on phillip you will see he didn't use any target specification

^when you are clicking links on a site you wish to remain on for the duration of your time on the computer and you click on an external link. The correct way to link that external link is to a new window so when you are done reviewing the article you can close it and be back where you started on TWW. There really isn't any reason to have to explain this to you, kid.

i'm just voicing my support for his current link implementation so that he doesn't feel like he has to change in the face of your criticism

anyway, the fact that you don't tab-browse is mega lame and negates any commentary you might have about the intarweb

dude, seriously, tab browsing has nothing to do with anchor tags. If you knew anything about html you would know that tab browsing or not an anchor tag without a target specification will always open in the same window. unless you use middle click (which track pads dont have) or right click.

so to answer your question. I do use tab browsing. even my tabs have tabs.

obviously you did not click on my link after clicking on Phillips link because if you did you would now see how stupid you are.

then stop complaining. just middle click all links like a normal goddamned person and stfu.

if you can't middle click, then that is super-suck and you have no excuse

and you obviously missed this tidbit:

quit making excuses. you have none.

anyway, ctrl-click also opens links in new tabs so like I said - you're just demonstrating your ignorance and ineptitude on how to browse the web successfully, like a real man

any guarantee that the samsung bd player above will be upgradeable to bd2.0 when it comes out? is the ability to read the discs a hardware or firmware issue? $270 with 5 free movies is a damn good deal, but i'd hate to buy something that's going to be out of date in a couple years (then again, what technology isn't, these days?)

it must be a software update if the PS3 is compatible with BD 2.0 when it comes out via update. Not sure if the samsung BD players are like the toshiba HD DVD players with ethernet for upgrades or the ability to burn the firmware update to a disc and install that way.
