They were too tight for big games with Marty, but they're almost too loose with Norv.

^^^i dunno man. chargers should have gone for it on 4th and 2, with Kaeding's history and 2 previous misses this game. they probably would have converted, too.

turner is just not that good of a coach

rivers had one big mistake with the int and it cost them

two stupid penalties at the worse possible times, committed by the chargers

and nate decided to have the worst possible game he could have had

^^yeah, those were bonehead penalties, but ultimately neither of them really changed the outcome of those possessions. The missed field goals, though.... goddamn kaeding.

except for the fact that one penalty gave the jets the ball inside the 10 yard line, that was huge

after an amazing grab and getting a lot of momentum you throw it all away with that penalty and also have to go further back and use up more time to score the td.

those penalties were very very costly actually.

its hard to argue ifs and buts

ultimately, the chargers still scored the TD (sproles got it back to the 20 the very next play)and it seems very likely the jets would have anyways as well. They were both stupid as hell, though.

onside kick was also a bad coaching decision. jets obviously wont go for it on 4th and 1 on their 20 versus 50

i would not say kaeding is the best kicker in the league

kickers are so up and down

who is historically the most clutch kicker ever? you don't even hear about vinatieri anymore

scifres is still however a bad ass and gets no credit

He was the All-Pro kicker this year meaning he was chosen as best kicker.

He had made 67 straight inside of 40 yards before today's chokejob.

i think they should cut him

if you can't perform in the playoffs then there is no point (just like my fantasy team)

the chargers belong with the cowboys

maybe it is all norv's fault

^ it is all norv's fault. he decided lets try and throw it on the best pass defense in the league instead of run it on a team that does give up a good amount of rush yards.

also why onside kick it when they did? that is just stupid, also coach decision

^its not the point that they are going to gash the jets for 300 yards rushing i know that. but you honestly think rushing it 15 times will help have a balanced offense and at least keep the d honest and not dropping back playing the pass?

shit how many times has sproles just busted one long bc he is so tough to spot and bring down?

^ not as many as you probably think he has. Sproles is just an over hyped kick returner. How many times have you seen him dropped for a 4 yard loss because he can't break tackles?

Yet for some reason, the play call of the night was the rush up the middle. Un fucking real. Norv lost this game. I doubt Rivers was checking down that many times.

[Edited on January 17, 2010 at 8:58 PM. Reason : well...kaeding lost it but they should have gone for the jugular and fucked around too much. ]

Phil with the bonehead INT
Kaeding with the 2 missed FG's
Turner with some very questionable playcalling (seriously LT is washed up)

All three combined equal the big L. They should very seriously consider replacing Kaeding, really. He is one of the best kickers in the league in the regular season, but the boy can't hit shit in the playoffs. And go get themselves a new running back--LT is done and Sproles is too small for every down work.

Rivers choked tonight, the Jets were a poor team all season and they just couldnt cut it.

Those FG's were pretty awful, but they really choked when it came down to it by not setting up easier FG's or not turning the ball over.

I do agree, they botched it by wasting so many downs trying to "establish the run" when they weren't able to establish the run all season.

Even still, Rivers couldn't get it done as usual...

Agreed it was a bad interception...but I don't think you can say "as usual" with a straight face.
