great job to re-sign Tyrus he's just entering his prime and is severely underrated.
If we lose Felton we are really screwed at PG though DJ obviously can't play. Unbelievable we passed up Lawson and Brook Lopez.
Lawson, Jackson, Wallace, Okafor, Lopez with Tyrus off the bench. Not quite a contender but certainly 50 wins.
Even if you substitute Okafor for Chandler its still a really strong team. 7/9/2010 11:10:53 PM |

potentially dumb question from a self-proclaimed player contract/salary n00b:
how much $ is baron davis worth and what's his contract situation, i read that he's possibly on the trading block for teams with a lot of $$ (which i'm aware the bobcats are not)
just curious 7/9/2010 11:15:51 PM |

he signed a monster deal like 5 yrs $65 million i believe two summers ago. He's old, he's played horribly in LA, he's an abysmal shooter that loves to shoot, and makes a shitload.
Buyer beware, this isnt the Baron from G-States playoff run anymore. 7/9/2010 11:25:55 PM |

We're in a really tough spot here because we don't have any young talent to offer in a trade and we have too many bad veteran contracts. This is due to poor trades, signings, and draft picks over the years.
The best we have to offer is
Chris Paul, Okafor, Posey for Tyson, Nazr, Gerald Henderson, DJ, and 2 first rounders.
The Hornets would get 2 expiring deals, 2 young players with cheap team options, and 2 mediocre first rounders in exchange for dumping two bad long term deals.
That's probably not quite good enough for them to accept.
It also puts us in the luxury tax for at least two seasons which I don't know if we can swallow.
Diop and Diaw are really suffocating our flexibility right now, thanks MJ!

Quote : | "We can finally put all that talk of Boris Diaw playing the point behind us. The versatile forward will be shipped to Toronto to play for his former Suns boss Bryan Colangelo.
The Arizona Republic reports that Diaw will be heading to the Raptors in exchange for part of the Chris Bosh trade exception and journeyman (as well as former Bobcat) Dwayne Jones. Jones would be first acquired by Toronto from Phoenix in a prior trade that would send Hedo Turkoglu to the Suns in exchange for Leandrinho Barbosa.
The trade as reported would save the Bobcats $9 million dollars in cap space this season and next while putting the team in prime position to trade for a starting point guard and fill out their roster without venturing into the luxury tax this summer.
ANALYSIS: After re-signing PF Tyrus Thomas to a 5 year $40 million contract last week, the Diaw move comes as no surprise. Only a team with cash reserves like the Lakers spends $8 million a year on their backup power forward. Expect Tyrus to start immediately. Depending on how Tyrus’s contract is structured, the Bobcats are between $8 and $10 million below the League’s luxury tax threshold for next season of $70 million. Trading Diaw will not only gives the team the ability to find a quality starting point guard via trade this season but also allows the team to potentially pursue a max-type free agent next summer as they currently sit about $20 million under next year’s cap." |

This is a huge coup if jordan can pull this off. Granted he's the one who fucked up by taking on diaw in the first place but if he can dump him cheaply that's impressive. Now we have a superstar and a good forward locked up relatively cheap.
Its kinda crazy that we didn't beat such a small deal out there for felton after his big year (only 2 guaranteed seasons?!), which makes me think we really are the lead candidates for chris paul.
If we can swap chandler for okafor while adding chris paul we'd be longshot contenders. 7/12/2010 8:23:11 AM |

Just throwing this out there:
What about Gilbert Arenas/Agent Zero/Hibachi? It's probably a long shot, but apparently Arenas is semi-available...
With John Wall on board, would they be willing to part with him? Would Jordan, et al. take a chance on him? Trade Machine says we could make it work in a variety of ways.
Imagine this starting line-up: Arenas Jackson G.Wallace Thomas Chandler
That would be one of the most athletic starting line-ups in the NBA. 7/12/2010 12:15:46 PM |

Jordan underwhelms us again.
Calderon is a really solid point, he's one of the best shooters in the league and a great passer too.
But giving up chandlers expiring deal without even getting a big back isn't pretty.
Diaw sucks and I can't believe we found anyone to take him even with the sweetner we threw in.
Reggie evans used to be good but his stats look like he's washed up. How ironic that instead of getting the mvp nut puncher we are getting the washed up nut puncher 7/12/2010 1:21:19 PM |

we can cut Dampier without losing a dime
Najera is nothing special but he plays hard, hustles, fights for rebounds, etc
Carroll immediately becomes our best spot up outside shooter
if we do keep Dampier, I wouldnt mind it from a player perspective...he is a good rebounder and shot blocker, he takes high percentage shots, and he can bang with guys like Howard...but he is kinda expensive 7/13/2010 4:00:38 PM |
