Gottfried would take him back. He is trying to use his tough talk to save face for losing him, but I am sure that he would take him back. People are too much on Gottfrieds D right now to see that.
BTW, when can we have a coach with an-easy-to-spell name? 5/6/2011 7:33:35 PM |

Okay I'm trying to figure out what our 2012 class needs are and how it might look based on current prospects.
Seniors SG Wood PF Howell C/PF Painter C Vandenberg
Juniors PG/SG Brown SF/PF Leslie (highly likely that he goes to the NBA after next year)
Sophomores SF/PF Harris SG Raymond
Freshmen PG Lewis C Mikulic (I'm keeping him listed until otherwise noted)
10 Scholarship players are listed, but again Leslie will probably leave after this year giving us 4 more scholarships to use.
My dream 2012 class would look like this:
PG Tyler Lewis SG Rodney Purvis SG Torian Graham (would need him once Purvis went one-and-done) SF TJ Warren C Josip Mikulic and a PF to be named later 5/6/2011 8:11:15 PM |

It would show a lack of commitment ... but thats nothing new for college students ... Forgivable in my mind.
Most sensible people would allow him to come back under most circumstances (and especially when needing a PG desperately).
For real though ... is there a rule that you cannot choose to commit to the school you were released from? 5/7/2011 6:28:27 PM |

according to what I've been reading here: http://www.ncaapublications.com/productdownloads/TGONLINE2010.pdf ,he can come back, but I think he would have to sit out a year
I dunno, I kinda scanned over the article, someone else can read more into it

^I think I read on PP that it was the new staff's decision to release him
Although the latest article about him says that there is still mutual interest (not sure how true that is anyway).
I'm sure the staff feels like they have much better options for that class.

Is he good enough to take the starting spot from Doron Lamb (I'm guessing no)? Kentucky is in consideration for like half the top 50 players every year. That doesn't mean they get them all though. I think he'll go somewhere he will have a better chance at playing time (not saying that's us). 5/8/2011 12:21:31 PM |

Tyrek Coger, center from Raleigh (same HS as Purvis), committed to Mizzou today.

We didn't even offer the guy. Besides Missouri, Coger's only other offer was from VCU. He's listed as a 6'7" center, which probably means he doesn't have a very developed offensive game. I can live with being "beat out" for this kid. 5/9/2011 5:16:13 PM |

Last I read he was 6'8" and 250lbs, likely to be a 4 or 5 star player by his senior year...no reason to go sour grapes on him. Plenty of time left still in his recruitment. 5/9/2011 6:08:55 PM |

Pretty interesting tweets today from CJL about Purvis and TJ Warren. Alluding to them signing with us. Also I read an article today about Warren where Tyler Lewis said he is recruiting him hard. With all this local pressure by their friends on the team it can't hurt our chances. Plus Warrens dad played for us and he grew up a wolfpack fan.

Was his dad any good? If he was a star and tj had big shoes to fill I could see him wanting to go elsewhere to get out of his dads shadow. But if his dad was just an average player it wouldn't matter as much, especially since he was raised an ncsu fan 5/9/2011 10:01:35 PM |
