No way.

I must see proof.

If we were, it was obviously after beating up on creampuffs and very early in the season

It was easy to forget after that slaughter at Mich St. Ernie mentioned. I was in Chapel Hill for that game. It was humiliating.

I just don't even see the point in saying that kind of thing. It has absolutely zero to do with the examination of a coach's tenure or even a segment of that like a season.

EVERY team at EVERY level has stretches where they like a cogent unit. So what? It's the ability to actually have that translate timeout to timeout, half to half, game to game that lends credibility to a team or a coach.

That inconsistency is actually one of the main reasons I have been criticial of Lowe. Not necessarily of the actual talent being displayed (freshmen will be freshmen) but more of the intensity being shown.

It's not even the sentiment of the post -- mostly, I agree with that, though it's no reason to reserve criticism.

It's the fact that this shit reads like a fucking Reading Rainbow review.

You have no journalistic skills, PackInsider writers, give it the fuck up and stop publicly shaming yourselves. Stick to making sick-ass And1 videos of Ryan Harrow vs. San Diego State, brah.

come on nym, i'm not even trying to argue with you. i've said multiple times that my comments have nothing to do with sid or his credibility (although I realize this is the SL credibility thread), and that i was just trying to insert some optimism into an otherwise depressing thread.

i just don't see the point of fans constantly bitching and moaning on an anonymous message board about the college team they supposedly support. especially if you're the mod of the message board that is supposedly dedicated to the athletics of the college team you supposedly support. (isn't that what ST is?).

I don't really think I bitch all that much relatively speaking. I have my complaints and I feel I typically do a good job explaining them. Also, you will very rarely to never see me get on a college player since, in theory, they don't get paid.

I've been pretty tame in my criticism's of Lowe and have never personally insulted him. Just like to talk about the program and where it's headed of my alma mater is all.

I think Lowe would be much more successful in the Big 10 or some other conference where he wouldn't be constantly dealing with not only the shadows of Duke and Carolina but also living up to the standards he set as a player. This school will probably never win a national title during out lifetime, and this would be perfectly acceptable at most mid-tier BCS schools. But never here.

someone on 99.9 the fan (either David Glenn or Adam Gold and Joe Ovies) commented yesterday that Sidney gets less support from his assistant coaches than most other major college programs head coaches do around the country. Maybe if he got rid of one of his garbage assistants and brought in a defensive minded coach to back him up, we could have a little more success

just my two cents though

^^^that's cool.

its just that this barage of critcism, especially the over-the-top stuff, is depressing.

there are at least 11 games left in the season! i'll keep saying it, if it's doing anything, it's only hurting the team and the program.

I hear that argument alot and I call bullshit. While I would love a national championship, I'm under no illusion that that is a distant dream.

It's not unreasonable to expect to regularly make the NCAAs, compete year in and year out with UNC and Duke (not necessarily win half the games, but be competitive every game we play), and make a decent run at the final four (not make the final four, mind you, but have a legitimate shot) every 4-5 years. I guarantee most wolfpack fans would be fine with that.

Go somewhere with less tradition where an NCAA berth is treated as a luxury, not a birth right, and he'd be much more in a comfort zone. Think a homeless man's Tubby Smith.

Nobody in college will hire Sidney Lowe if he's let go after this year.

He just needs to go back to being an assistant in the NBA.

There's like 350 D1 teams. Surely he could latch on to a bottom feeder if he so desired.

^I just think even the shitty programs would take a cheap assistant from a decent program rather than a shitty coach who has had nothing but shitty results at a bcs program. You rarely see a proven loser hired as a head coach unless he has had some previous success as a head coach...whether it be at his current program or at a program before that. I honestly can't think of an example where a coach has failed at his only collegiate head coaching job and was again hired as a head coach somewhere else (on the college level).

Let's just hope Sidney doesn't follow Pete Gaudet's career path.

I think a bottom feeder team used to getting the 250th ranked recruiting class in the country might see some value in getting a guy who can bring in top-5 classes...regardless of what he does with those classes

I highly doubt Sidney could get top-50 guys to go to a bottom feeder program. The facilities and our history are pretty high up on our sales pitch. Lowe doesn't get Harrow and Leslie to go to UNC-Greensboro.

^^Having decent success at Clemson is kind of impressive. Not quite on the Rick Barnes level...but impressive to say the least. And Depaul hasn't exactly been the class of the Big East lately. It was kind of a lateral move on Purnell's part. But I'm not surprised he wanted to get the fuck out of South Carolina...especially the Clemson area.

BTW....where can I find the list of the youngest teams in college basketball this year?? My weak attempts at google have not succeeded.

So 22nd youngest overall and 5th youngest power conference team.

But the fact that UCONN is that young and still that good kinda flies in the face of that theory.

2nd youngest team in the ACC, behind Wake...however we could be a little older than that if Tracy had been healthy all year, based on how they come up with the numbers...but he wasn't, so thats moot

That was my response to a good (unbiased) friend of mine about the situation.

He said give Sid one more year to see what he could do with these kids with one more year of experience.

I said, let's get a coach in here that can do something with this talent...let's not waste it on one more year with Sidney and then bring in another coach and have these kids gone by that year.

I know it sounds retarded and would never happen, but Yow needs to meet with all the players sans Lowe and give it to them straight. Tell them that there's a good possibility that Lowe won't be here next year unless this team turns things around...quickly. And if that doesn't happen, that she's going to go out and bring in the best coach available that will still help them meet their goals of graduating and/or making it to the league. And the second Lowe is fired, get on the lines to Uchebo/Lewis/Harris and make it a priority that we don't lose their commitments.

If Yow can do all the right things once the season ends in regards to hiring a new coach...then we can have a guy hit the ground running next year and hopefully see some good results.
