I am really hating my tech support. Had to call 3 times, to get a case opened to get a damn mailing address that I needed 4 hrs ago for a part that broke.
Getting a second (different group) case opened for ordering the replacement was easy, even though id never done it before.

Our marketing department sends out PDF files with new product announcements to our distributors and sales people. One of the sales guys calls in and asks if I can send it to him in "mb" format. I ask what he means by "mb" and he says "You know... megabytes!"

Supposedly, in large part to that article, Apple is now sending users a free upgrade to Leopard if they call Applecare and give the serial number of the device they are trying to hook up to a pre 10.5 system.

^^Here's an article that's in direct response to that one that takes a decidedly pro-Apple stance on the matter. I can see it from both sides of the argument. You can't expect your manufacturer to give you free upgrades forever (although, now it looks like they are) but I do think 4 years is a little bit on the low side of things when it comes to OS support.

One of these days I'm going to build a computer without having to install the OS a second time because I screwed something up. By the way, I think it should be more widely publicized that you can't switch from AHCI to RAID mode on the HDD controller after the OS is installed on Intel chipsets. 5/24/2011 10:12:19 AM |

The sales people at my company insisted on using Macbook Pros and we're still on Exchange 2003 and so IT had to install Parallels on each computer just to run Office 2010 (newer Office for OSX is not compatible with Exchange 2003).
So now all the sales people run Parallels JUST to use Outlook with our exchange server.
I just talked to 2 of them the other day and they weren't taught how to transfer files back and forth between the virtual machine and OSX so they've resorted to permanently plugging in a USB thumb drive and saving files to that in OSX then when they need to email attachments via Outlook on the virtual machine they attach them from the thumb drive. 7/7/2011 12:24:42 PM |

haha, we have the same problem. we're on exchange '03, and about a third of the company is on Macs now. Even assuming office '08 or before, entourage is the shittiest email client in existence.
I think we're getting exchange '07 in a few months so it won't be a problem much longer, but fuck. 7/7/2011 3:07:28 PM |

It's just the wifi password to get wireless for the media room. It's not like its a classified wifi with sensitive documents flowing through it.
Shit, I know the wifi password for the RBC center and they still haven't changed that in years. They only put a password so that dickheads in the seats don't use the bandwidth specifically made for the media and journalists. Although they only put the password on during big events. 9/11/2011 10:05:34 PM |

Mother thinks the tv remote (TWC) is broken... calls me.
Ask her what happens when she pushes any button, she says nothing.
Ask her if the batteries are dead, she says that she just put new ones in.
Ask her again what happens when she pushes a button, this time specifying that she look at what light turns red at the top.
She says it is the auxiliary light. I tell her to push the tv button.
Fixed. 3/27/2012 3:58:46 PM |

Lady brought in 13 floppy disks for us to convert over to a flash drive. Comes back in 2 days later flipping that the library computers won't open her files. Try to open them up and nothing can. Ask her how old they are. 1990/1991 works files. Dates show 2090 and 2091 for date of creation because of poor date coding(Y2K). I wasn't a tech when the last version of software able to open these files was sold. I didn't even have a computer. 4/19/2012 9:37:18 AM |

Quote : | "CORRECTION: An earlier version of this article incorrectly said that the higher resolution Retina displays of the new iPad and forthcoming Macbook Pro computers would increase consumption of network bandwidth, thus slowing performance of corporate networks. Higher resolution screens do not in and of themselves consume more network bandwidth. Some analysts have suggested that owners of devices with high-resolution screens will likely consume more video and HD video, which would result in higher bandwidth consumption. This article has been substantially recast to reflect this change." |

This is another case where the user is not at fault. It's just a shitty remote design. Remotes are terrible.
"Tech savvy" people just put up with shitty designs so they can use them as nerd tests. No one else cares to jump through the hoops imposed by terrible design.6/27/2012 10:41:47 PM |
