Orr shouldn't get any, his arms were in and he kept his hands (first contact yes, but he didn't lead with them) under the collarbones. It was a charge, but that's all.

Avery will probably get 2-3 for the punch he threw under the linesman...all the other flailing was just crap that agitators do to get the crowd and other team riled up.

2-3 games at least for Orr hit; that was dirty, he lead with his hands/stick

He didn't lead with them. Yes, his hands were out front, but they were tucked to his chest because otherwise he would've been leading with his face into a hard plastic visor. Leading with your hands is extending them out in front, which is not what Orr did.

if his hands were tucked into his chest he would have been leading with his face; his hands were the first things that hit Cullen; all that aside, it was a unnecessary shot to the head and should be a suspension

HE DIDN'T HIT CULLEN'S HEAD

Watch the video. Hands/chest to chest. The hands fly up a little as he follows through, but it's not a Stevens-style arm extension, it's just uncontrolled momentum.

he clearly leads with his hands to the face; if it was clean he would have turned his body to hit him with his shoulder; the 5 min. interference penalty was bogus though

^^ Yeah, he'd put his shoulder under your chin to make sure the hit was clean, then at the moment of contact he'd extend with his forearm and put bone on jaw. Orr's hands hit Cullen's collarbones; it's clean.

I guess the league will have to decide; I say 2-3 games for head shot; hope Cullen doesn't miss much time

Watch the video at 3:20. He's got his hands tucked and they contact the upper chest, then Cullen's head snaps down and slams into Orr's gloves. It's not a head shot.

With that said, I'd like to see what Nolan thinks of really putting that #36 Canes sweater back to work.

3 goals and 257 penalty mins in 125 career nhl games screams goon to me, and having reviewed the record or penalties, yeah he's a little over the dirty line especially after last night.

he's no avery, but even the rags can't get 2 that dirty on one roster.

Gosh, a 4th line winger averaging a minor penalty a game! Must be some kind of super career dirty player! I find it hard to believe anyone on the Rangers is going to be headhunting Cullen, since he was a teammate of their's not but 5 months ago.

Also, it's hilarious that Avery averages like 3 minutes worth of penalties a game. He's wonderful. I can also hardly fault him for the first shot against Ladd, since at the time Avery, not Ladd, was the one being held back. Ladd never should've gotten close.

This is a ridiculous statement. You wanna talk goon, let's talk Daniel Carcillo...172 PIM in 33 games this year.

As for Avery going after Letowski, it's just how an agitator works. Find the mediocre guy on the ice who won't fight anyway and pick on him, thereby suckering one of the better, more physical players into fighting. The cheap shots weren't good, but it's the linesmens' fault for jumping in...that kind of shit is what gets people really hurt.

Avery knows he'll have to fight eventually on a night like that, but just like Tucker, he won't do it until it's absolutely necessary because he's trying to draw cheap penalties (like the one he drew on Cullen when he reached out after the hit).

Sopcast info for tonight's game against Boston:

Channel sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/38611
or
sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/38858 (VLC Player required)

Quote :
"All streams on Sopcast can be viewed with VLC, though for a select few streams this is mandatory. Additionally, sometimes VLC can stream a few seconds or more ahead of what shows up in Sopcast itself, which can help reduce your lag between the stream's source and when you watch it.

To use VLC, download VLC at http://www.videolan.org and install it , then start the Sopcast stream and let it buffer. Then open VLC, go to Open Network Stream, select HTTP option, and type in 127.0.0.1:8902 (if not working, try port 8912). You MUST leave Sopcast running; closing Sopcast closes the stream. If the stream gives sound in both VLC and Sopcast, mute the sound on Sopcast, or hit the refresh button so the Sopcast screen goes blank, but the VLC screen stays intact."

Only way to get those jabronies to do anything...I had to do it last week for the Sunday Night Hoops doubleheader. I wish theyd just setup an actual channel for it, even if its colorbars 98% of the week.

Edit: CSR claims the MOJO channel is having problems. FSN and MOJO have nothing to do with each other...its just TWC has a bunch of monkeys running the place. God I cant wait to peace out from these guys when I move.

Carolina Hurricanes 40 20 17 3 43 125 128 10-7-1 10-10-2

Tampa Bay Lightning 39 15 21 3 33 112 128 12-8-2 3-13-1

Caps bump the Lightning into last in the conference, and with two games in hand Florida has an opportunity to tie us for first place.

There are no trading periods, you can trade any time before the deadline. There's just a roster freeze for Christmas, which is now over.
