a lot of disney fans but i'm not impressed. Movie was alright. I'll probably end up picking up the whole trilogy eventually.

Warner's totally going Blu at CES.
12/14/2007 12:48:40 PM
probably...and with sony FINALLY pulling their collective penis out of the consumers' collective asshole, blu-ray players will be affordable and worth buying (not trying to start the ps3 argument again, but i'd rather pay $130 - give or take - less and get a standalone player)if i had to suggest one over the other at this point, i'd say go blu[Edited on December 14, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Reason : closer to $130, i guess]

SuperBadCouldn't find that shit on Blu Ray locally.I was so mad .
12/14/2007 1:34:58 PM
if only sony could have this kind of relative success with games for their 'uber' console.

Bl Ra is pretty awesome!
12/14/2007 4:36:05 PM
Yeah, Bourne is selling very very well. It may be the first red week we've had this year -- and not a moment too soon, either.
12/14/2007 5:57:36 PM
Im more interested in how Harry Potter does since its on both formats...this should be very telling of whos ahead, and give us an indication of where Warner might go if they do indeed declare exclusivity.Superbad, Lost, The Simpsons Movie, and the Pirates and Spider-man movies all have me wanting to go purple though.
12/15/2007 3:05:50 AM
After being fairly neutral since the release, I'm leaning bluray solely because1) I plan on getting a PS3 in the next few months2) Content wise, bluray seems to have slightly better content (imo)3) Lost (i almost bought a ps3 yesterday solely to watch lost in hd)
12/16/2007 10:44:52 AM
the kingdom on hddvd dec 23rd. Must have for me. Really great movie.
12/16/2007 2:11:52 PM
yeah i still want to see that one...looked really good
12/16/2007 2:41:04 PM
i'm not gonna read all of this....what is gonna decide this "war"???
12/16/2007 3:06:30 PM
imho, it'll be the price of the hardware and content (if the studios mantain split), otherwise it may very well come down to which studios support which format (assuming they'll all eventually support one and not the other)[Edited on December 16, 2007 at 3:22 PM. Reason : .]

Tomorrow is the last big release day for 2007. Blade Runner should be HUGE, a lot of people have been waiting a long time for this. It was originally going to be released in October, but was delayed. Terminator 3 and Stardust will probably sell well too. The Simpsons movie was good, but comedies in HD usually don't sell well. Robert De Niro in Stardust was a lot better than John Travolta in Hairspray.HDM Releases for December 18, 2007 * Balls of Fury (HD DVD) * Blade Runner (Complete Collector's Ed.) (Blu-ray) * Blade Runner (Complete Collector's Ed.) (HD DVD) * Blade Runner (Ultimate Collector's Ed.) (Blu-ray) * Blade Runner (Ultimate Collector's Ed.) (HD DVD) * The Moody Blues: Lovely to See You - Live (HD DVD) * R. Kelly Live - The Light It Up Tour (HD DVD) * Roy Orbison: A Black & White Night (HD DVD) * Shakira: Oral Fixation Tour (Blu-ray) * The Simpsons Movie (Blu-ray) * Stardust (HD DVD) * Sunrise Earth: American Sunrises Vol 1 (Blu-ray) * Sunrise Earth: American Sunrises Vol 1 (HD DVD) * Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (Blu-ray) * That’s Entertainment: Complete Collection (Blu-ray) * That’s Entertainment: Complete Collection (HD DVD) * Underdog (2007) (Blu-ray)
12/17/2007 11:55:08 AM
i mean how could you not put R. Kelly Live in bold? that will be the hottest selling disc of the year!

12/17/2007 12:29:30 PM
Superbad, Bad Santa, Happy Gilmore, National Lampoon's Van Wilder, and Anchorman come to mind as really weak sellers in HD DVD and Blu-ray. Fans of Ice Cube won't want to miss "Are We Done Yet?".
12/17/2007 1:17:26 PM
Superbad is the only one i would consider picking up out of those (1/2 aren't on Blu, the other 1/2 suck).
12/17/2007 1:31:17 PM
Picked up The Simpsons movie and Superbad on blu ray today.Going to pick up Blade Runner and Bullit in a couple weeks as well.
12/18/2007 11:31:31 PM
Don't forget Amadeus in Feb!!! I'm so pumped for that one.
12/19/2007 1:17:45 PM
no new nielson numbers?
12/20/2007 11:32:20 AM
its official. Movies are better in hi def I wasn't a big fan of superbad. Saw it once in theaters. Saw it again on blu ray and I actually really liked it lol.

You can't deny the anecdotal evidence:Before watching superbad on blu ray:Mark: "I wish I could erase the memory of ever watching that movie"As soon as we push playMark:"loloololololoololololol" x the running lengthI mean, in this website where anecdotal evidence = clear fact, none of you can deny the validity here.

I DON'T KNOW WHICH TO BUY, HELP.
12/20/2007 1:31:18 PM
i think i will end up siding with Blue Ray because the technology is better and just hope Sony pulls away from Microsoft
12/20/2007 1:39:55 PM
12/20/2007 3:04:47 PM
I don't need to explain nor do I give two shits about anyone's opinion on this forum...I'm not really a Sony person but their product has the better technologyhttp://www.engadget.com/2005/09/19/blu-ray-vs-hd-dvd-state-of-the-s-union-s-division/that link pretty much sums it up in a nutshelllook at the specs for yourself, Blue Ray is superior[Edited on December 20, 2007 at 3:54 PM. Reason : its not opinion, its just simple fact]
12/20/2007 3:26:05 PM
^ at this point in time, given that sony FINALLY stopped being assholes about the whole "YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO SELL A BLU-RAY PLAYER CHEAPER THAN A PS3 BLAH BLAH BLAH RAWR RAWR RAWR" thing, yeah, it's superior technology and it's FINALLY worth paying for
12/20/2007 4:06:02 PM
Nothing says "relevant to technology" like an article that's over two years old.

Volcom, that's outdated. Really, it boils down to studio support. Content is king. As it stands, no matter which format you buy, you're going to be locked out of certain titles.http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/releasedates_historical.htmlvshttp://bluray.highdefdigest.com/releasedates_historical.htmlStudios listed as supporting members:Blu-RaySonyFoxNew Line*Lion's GateBuena Vista (aka Disney, Pixar)MGMHD DVDUniversal**Paramount**Dreamworks***Technically, they're owned by Warner, but they operate as their own entity. As far as I can remember, they've released only one high-def movie so far (Hairspray). Right now it's only on Blu-ray, however they've said they're waiting until the worldwide theatrical run to end before releasing it on HD DVD (HD DVDs are region-free). http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/997's Dec 23 release on Blu-ray, and HD DVD "sometime in 2008". Pan's Labyrinth will be released on HD DVD and Blu-ray both on Dec26.**AKA ViacomWarner is still neutral, and has not voiced any preference toward either format. A lot of their earlier releases were HD DVD exclusive (e.g. Batman Begins), however lately they've been releasing on both formats on the same day (e.g. Harry Potter)[Edited on December 20, 2007 at 4:35 PM. ^Universal is owned by NBC-Universal and not affiliated with Viacom in any way.I didnt realize Blu-ray wasnt region free like HD-DVD. Many bonus points for HD-DVD.
12/20/2007 4:49:20 PM
Oh come on nowYou didn't honestly expect Sony to do something in the best interests of the consumer, did you?
12/20/2007 6:06:02 PM
i'm leaning toward HD DVD because its a little cheaper and a lot more ppl i know have HDDDVDs so i can borrow them
12/20/2007 6:38:32 PM
^^ which is the ONLY reason the success of blu-ray would piss me off
