I really don't understand why Crystal Antlers aren't the biggest band in the world.

Pleasant surprise of the day:

If you buy the Dark Meat "When the Shelter Came" 7", it comes with a download card for an entire EP, not just the two songs on the record.

Awesome title.

For what might be the single cheapest, shallowest, shittiest song I've ever heard.

radiohead songs:

Harry patch (in memory of) = very different, I love it.
These are my twisted words = leaked, and this was attached to the info file (having references to a mysterious "Wall of Ice" or "WOI"):

hahaha... yeah this new weezer song is pretty, rediculously, incredibly, amazingly bad. songs like this and beverly hills make you wonder if they really were a good band, or a terrible band that accidently made some decent stuff in the past.

the new Flaming Lips is the most experimental/least-accessible album they've recorded in a long time.. not sure how i feel about it yet but it's an interesting listen at least. probably will leak soon, since promos are being sent out

Crap. The way you started that post, I thought it had already leaked. I have that same feeling about it from the 3 tracks that have leaked so far.

^^ That's interesting, considering Wayne has been talking about it as a sort of return to Soft Bulletin-esque stuff, atmospheric but tuneful.

From Rolling Stone (in March)-

Quote :
""After the Flaming Lips' Steven Drozd failed to sell his Oklahoma house last year, the band turned the empty home into a temporary recording studio. "We're capturing more immediate kinds of rock sounds there," says frontman Wayne Coyne. "It's different than the computer-generated beats of the last couple of records." The group is re-teaming with longtime producer Dave Fridmann for its 12th LP — and has already written enough material for a double album, which Coyne describes as "Plastic Ono-era John Lennon mixed with Bitches Brew-era Miles Davis.""

it really didn't remind me of Soft Bulletin at all (which we just got on 180gm vinyl btw). there are 18 tracks. very atmospheric. not very tuneful.

i can upload that Javelin album later.. i think you can only buy it through their myspace. the version i downloaded a few weeks ago was a little different than the CD-R i bought at their show though.

what do you mean by people "in the know" not liking the Polvo record? people that work at Merge? critics?

i think it's pretty great

i guess "in the know" sounded more suggestive than i meant

i have talked to some people around town who are more than just fans who aren't big on it

i think it's great

I saw "Girls" a few months ago and it was so loud I couldnt hear a fucking thing they were doing.

come to find out they actually write nice pop songs which are pretty enjoyable. So ive been listening to them.

Some how they're on the cover of Fader this month. The lead singer looks like a skinny Mike Patton from 1988.
