TKE-Teg finally finished his plate! haha the waitress asked him if it was his third... egg was on his face when he told her it was only his first

but now me, him, and NyM410 can finally start planning our group plate party! 325 bucks for 3 people who would have invited essentially the same crowd anyway...

my charlotte group has 3 people finishing up around the same time as well.

one girl just finished over the weekend, her bf sits at 196, and i'm right behind at 188. We haven't decided if we should do a big party or just three partys in a row. The thing is our group of saucer regulars is small, and the other friends we would invite while they would stick around for awhile probably wouldn't put a dent in the 300+ tab. So we thought 3 100 tabs on seperate nights might be a smarter decision for us.




Also, i've been thinking about plate quotes. The girlfriend came up with this. 1 year, 200 hundred beers, and all I got was a lousy girlfriend

Are the Wednesday Brewery Nite glass purchases the same price every time or do they vary? And how much is it usually?

I've actually never been to Flying Saucer, will probably go on Wednesday.

it depends on the glass. if it's a standard shaker style pint glass then it usually runs $6-8 bucks for the beer/glass. If it's a chalice, snifter, or something ornate they can run $10-12. now and again they'll get a really ornate or rare glass that may push it up to $20+. Usually if that's the glass I pass on it as you can get them online for less than half that (examples include stone growlers, hobgoblin cauldron, das boot etc.)

So they'll tell you the beer and glass online, but the price is secret until you get there.

I see this week they're doing Uber-Steins.

It'd probably be cheaper for me to just buy an assortment of beer glassware (I have none currently, at all) instead of relying on this way to collect cool ones.

haha yeah, basically. but a good rule of thumb is american breweries will be the cheapest. and a lot of it depends on the management. my store in charlotte, the GM seems to always get basic pint glasses when i know full well the brewery that week has some really cool styles of glassware. It could be the price he pays, or it could be that he doesn't really care. or it could be that he couldn't get a particular beer that warranted the specialty glass. i can't say for sure.

I go every wednesday and have accumulated a hefty collection of glassware. So much that i rarely buy the glass anymore unless it's something I can't live without or just happens to be my favorite brewery.

I went at 9PM on Wednesday to the saucer for the first time ever. We were hoping to get the ubersteins that were on sale on Wednesday. There were totally out. Turns out they start selling tickets for them at 5PM and then start redeeming at 7PM? Had no idea, is the ticketing thing normal? Should I intend to be there early for this purpose in the future if it's a glass I really want?

I have seen them sell out of glasses in 10 minutes before. I would usually get there at 6ish and drink my 3 beers, and then get the glass right at 7

Quicky UFO related question too: those "Saucer Flights", the platters with like 5-7 5oz. beers, those definitely don't count against your total, right?

^you have to get the beer+glass.


and yes, the flights count toward your UFO plate. when you are searching for beer slips just scroll down to USA Flight, or Europe Flight or whatever you end up getting
