It's not flawed, b/c if you follow the path of that patch of precipitation you'll see it's heading northeast and won't even hit Durham.1/28/2014 9:41:34 AM |

WxSouth saying 6"-10" widespread from RDU to ORF. 12" in some places.
If trend continues NE parts of NC could see temps of 0 degrees on Thursday morning 1/28/2014 9:49:54 AM |

Depends on the ratio they have been talking 15:1 possibly which would be 15" obviously but 12" probably a more likely number. Hope the atmosphere moistens up quick and the snow starts coming down sooner rather than later 1/28/2014 10:28:49 AM |
JP All American 16807 Posts user info edit post |
Eh, depends. Usually you can assume 10:1 snow/QPF ratio, but it can get up to 15:1. 1/28/2014 10:29:34 AM |

the column is still dry, there may be snow falling but it wont reach the ground until it saturates the column
if we can get it saturated now we wont have to wait when the heavier banding precip gets here.
