I wish the game did a better job of tracking where you leave items. I'm trying to amass a pile of gems and gold in my house and it's not working. 12/13/2011 9:43:42 AM |

Problem is the item is on the 2nd floor in her bedroom of her place and everytime i go upstairs to get it she follows me. i have tried picking the lock and sneaking in at like 3am and i get to the door of her bedroom and everytime she wakes up and starts hollering at me. what am i supposed to do with this? she never leaves the place either. lol wtf am i to do? (besides killing her which i dont wanna do) 12/13/2011 11:01:37 AM |

You have to go to the Temple of Mara in Riften to start a quest series that will reward you with an Amulet of Mara. Once you get the amulet, wear it and ask one of the clergy in the temple about marriage. 12/13/2011 11:26:36 AM |

so I was wandering around Whiterun, looking for Jorrvaskr in order to talk to the leader of the Companions...and I see a cow, so I go up to him, give him a couple good shots to the head, and he takes off running...I chase him around town for probably 30 seconds, getting the occasional lick on him, then follow him up some stairs to, surprise, Jorrvaskr. So I'm like ok screw this cow, I'm gonna meet the leader of the Companions...when I enter, they all start attacking the shit out of me, I thought they were some deranged cults like in Fallout NV that high class society of cannibals...but when I loaded my game and went back in (without attacking the cow), they were fine...so I guess it was their cow or something, I dunno but it was funny 12/13/2011 6:25:45 PM |

I was in the middle of an Orc village quest, and two dragons came swooping in. They were the first dragons I had seen in a while.
They came down and engaged us for about 30 seconds. They made two or three passes, and two hovers. I hit the a few times with UR and my arrows, and then they up and left.
And never came back...

I am at level 33 and been using a battlemage type character adept at conjuration and destruction. Also, keen on single hand combat when things get close and personnal or i run out of magicka.
Hearing the rumors that destruction does not scale well past the 30's, i was wondering if I should start investing perks towards archery instead of destruction? I got the bound bow with mystic binding. Depending on how bad destruction is at the higher levels, this may be a better investment. 12/14/2011 8:38:34 AM |

AndyMac All American 31922 Posts user info edit post |
^^ Increasing skills you don't currently use will only make destruction worse faster. You should probably stick with 1 handed and just use it and destruction, and limit the number of non-essential skills you increase.
Alternatively, if you are on PC there are mods for improving destruction.

It's a shame you went one handed over archery. The original plan was to sneak, use destruction and summons, but the bound bow quickly changed that plan. I'll eventually end up with 9 perks in archery Overdraw (5), Critical Shot (3), and Eagle Eye. I don't think I'll need the slow time perk since I'm already killing everything. I mentioned this on the other page, even blood dragons go down with 5-6 arrows. I'm killing them a whole lot faster than my heavy armor tank ever did and I'm completely out of harm's way.
I thought things would break down and I'd find myself in a lot of close quarter combat. I planned on using destruction/summons to deal with those scenarios but I've found that those situations are very rare. I'm over powered as it is, so even casting a summoned creature would be overkill.
Edit: Well I guess you were going for battle mage, not a sneak build. In that case, yeah the best bet is to get a destruction mod or wait for a balancing patch.

My character in Oblivion was a bow/sneak character. Wanted to do something different.
Usually in battle my game plan is.
1.) Summon a daedra to fight and distract. 2.) Use destruction until my magicka is depleted. 3.) Move in and finish off the badies with my sword and shield.
Nothing is more satisfying than a good ole decapitation.12/14/2011 9:26:55 AM |

If you get one, get a wired controller. Wireless controllers are more expensive plus they require a separate adapter

The cord is probably long enough, especially if you have a USB port in the front of your PC. I have my face right up on the screen, so I have a massive tangle of extra cord on the desk.
Edit: Product info on amazon says 9 foot cable.

I'm quite happy with my decision. $60 vs ~$1060. All, for what? better graphics and the ability to cheat whenever I want. Not even close to worth it, IMO. If I already had a top-end PC, then I guess. I'd still end up playing it on my TV with an Xbox controller though.
And modding it to where mudcrabs curse might be cute for a 12 second youtube clip, but I'm fine letting other people do that and watching instead of checking it out myself.]12/14/2011 8:30:15 PM |

game runs fine for my on my 360...but my TV is about 8 years old, and like all Bethesda games, I end up having to adjust the convergence to see the essential stuff on the edges of the screen, while sacrificing part of the text on an opposite edge

The TV I have (girkfriends) is a giant projector box monstrosity with DVI for HDTV.
