I know right!! we had to go to Kentucky and NC and borrow their Commodore 64s to sell out our allotment of tickets for the game
On a related note, according to the radio ads, there are now tickets available for the game through the game's website due to them being returned by NC State, so snatch em up!7/31/2012 3:48:50 PM |

Our oline is pretty weak and our run game has been dismal under TOB. We need Mustafa Greene badly, don't kid yourself. He is a YAC machine and we don't open many holes. 7/31/2012 8:15:06 PM |

Considering we couldn't run the ball at all the last two years unless it was mustafa, I'd say he's pretty important. This isn't the NFL, running backs are important in college.
The last thing we want is to have to pass on every play. We already saw how Glennon fared against constant pass rush last year. He's a sack taking queen sometimes and people constantly got a hand on his balls. For the first half of the year he was also a check down princess which killed us in games like wake forest.
We need Glennon to be comfortable in the pocket and build on how he finished the season if we want to be competitive this year. We need Moose for that obviously. 8/1/2012 11:38:04 AM |

Also, it doesn't sound like we need to worry too much about Mustafa as long as he doesn't have any setbacks with his injury.

not so obvious, since Glennon finished the season (and started it) without Moose, since he red-shirted last year with a foot injury. However, I agree that it would be better to have moose than to not have him.8/1/2012 12:09:33 PM |

I watch the games. They are usually on Saturdays.
Moose is awesome. Our line is terrible at run blocking. I know they're really experienced , but its mostly bad experience. Maybe they break out this year, but we were hoping for that last year too. 8/1/2012 12:15:13 PM |

Glennon had a good second half of the season. He was pretty rough the first half when he wouldn't throw the ball downfield and took way too many sacks.
We will need a running game to be competitive. We've got FSU and Clemson in our division. 8/1/2012 12:46:26 PM |

I agree with face about the O-line. They were supposed to be good last year too, but greatly underachieved. I think Wentz, Mattes, and Allen are all solid.
We lose Overgaard and replace him full-time with 5-star HS all-American Crisp.
We replace Christophe with former starter Wallace back from injury.
I'm hopeful for improvement, but feel doubtful about it. 8/1/2012 1:04:12 PM |

Quote : | "7. Mike Glennon, Senior, North Carolina State Wolfpack
There is a reason head coach Tom O'Brien let Russell Wilson take his talents to Madison (only to set college football's single-season efficiency record), and that reason is the 6-5 Glennon. He is much more of a facilitator than creator, but for his next-level prowess, Glennon must continue to develop his playmaking abilities when in the pocket and when plays break down.
One executive says Glennon's highlight tape may have a first-round grade, but the challenge is that the lowlight tape brings his stock to the middle rounds. Glennon played his best football as last season ended, winning his final three starts while throwing 11 touchdowns and just two interceptions, providing hope that 2012 could be a breakout season.
Offensive coordinator Dana Bible's pro-style system has benefited Glennon's development, and a run game that produces better than its 109th national ranking last season would help even more. Expect plenty of pro personnel to be on hand in Week 1 when Tyler Bray and Tennessee take on NC State in Atlanta, and expect even more if the Wolfpack are 5-0 when Florida State (and our next QB on this list) comes to town in early October" |

Quote : | "6. Tyler Bray, Junior, Tennessee Volunteers
Like it is with a 98-mph fastball pitcher, it is simply fun to watch Bray throw. His spindly frame is concerning over the long term, but the California kid fits that scouting mold of "making every throw" as well as any player on this list.
Bray needs to add a sense of urgency to his game, not just in his footwork within the pocket and out of it, but at times with the tempo in which he plays. Thrown into the fire before he was mature enough to handle it, Bray has endured the ups and downs of the position in the incredibly demanding SEC.
Outside of USC, the Volunteers have the best wide receiving corps in college football, and if Bray can stay upright, he has a chance to showcase his big arm with shots all over the field. A stretch of road games at Georgia, Mississippi State and South Carolina are sandwiched around Alabama in a four-week October stretch that will define Bray's and Derek Dooley's career at Tennessee. Bray feels like a boom-or-bust player this season, with small odds of anything in between." |

Quote : | "By Joe Giglio
Sterling Lucas didn't play a down of football for N.C. State last season. He injured his left knee in training camp, almost a year ago to the day.
Still, Lucas' teammates voted him one of the team's two captains for the 2012 season on Monday, which is both a testament to his leadership and his popularity.
"It's an honor and I don't take it lightly," said Lucas, a fifth-year senior. "I'm going to do whatever it takes to lead this team to an ACC championship."
Senior quarterback Mike Glennon, the face of the program, was the players' other choice at captain. Behind the scenes, Lucas has been as important of a leader for the Wolfpack as Glennon has been publicly.
"He was working just as hard as anybody," Glennon said. "I know he has been waiting for this."
With a new group of linebackers to break in on an otherwise experienced defense, Lucas' role at middle linebacker is all the more magnified.
Wolfpack coach Tom O'Brien called Lucas a "de facto" assistant coach. Instead of sulking about the injury last year, Lucas refocused his attention on helping the other linebackers.
"I think he has really good leadership qualities,," O'Brien said. "And I think (his teammates) recognize that."
Lucas was relegated to the injured list after aggravating a meniscus injury in his left knee, an injury he first suffered in the spring of 2011, in the team's first scrimmage last August.
Lucas, who has two career starts and 86 tackles in three seasons, believes he can turn the year off into a positive.
"I learned the ins and out of coaching," Lucas said. "Now, I'm on the field and I can use what I learned last year."
The injury forced him off the field but it might have been a good break for the Orangeburg, S.C. native. With Audie Cole set in the middle, Lucas would have been a backup last season.
"Everything happens for a reason," Lucas said. "I'm a strong believer in that."
Cole led the Wolfpack with a 132 tackles last season from the "mike" linebacker position. Nate Irving, Cole's predecessor, had 92 in 2010. Both are in the NFL, along with fellow linebacker Terrell Manning.
"Terrell, Nate and Audie have set high expectations for our linebackers," Lucas said. "We want to keep that going and I think we have the talent do that."
The linebackers, under the guidance of assistant Jon Tenuta, have been the strength of N.C. State's defense the past two seasons. The Pack ranked in the top 10 nationally in sacks in both 2011 (eighth with 40) and 2010 (fourth with 41).
Lucas will be counted on to get sophomore Rodman Noel and junior Rickey Dowdy up to speed in Tenuta's high-pressure system.
He spent a good part of spring practice fielding questions from the other linebackers. He expects to remain busy on that front during training camp. The best part of sitting out last season, Lucas said, was he learned the intricacies of all the positions on defense, not just middle linebacker.
"I was able to learn the defense from a different perspective," Lucas said. "It was my spot and what the other guys around were doing and why they do it."" |
