Sure, the wall might create a few jobs, but they won't be the kind of permanent long term jobs we need.

Wouldn't you rather see that money go to other infrastructure improvements that will actually matter? Fix our roads, fix our bridges, fix our national parks.

ITT JCE thinks a wall along the southern border is both feasible, and that the benefits would somehow outweigh the costs.

no wonder everyone, even the other republicans and libertarians think he's either a total idiot or a troll, or both.

The only advantage a massive wall will provide is revenue as a tourist attraction in a few centuries.

The problem is that you are equating a wall with physical security.

Show me a wall, any wall, that hasn't been breached at some point in time. The only way to make a wall that can't be breached is to man it with heavily armed people who will use lethal force. IE the Berlin Wall.

Sorry synapse, but it sounds like he's putting all his immigrant hate in the big ol' wall basket. I can't handle it.

Sounds like he's actually advocating for armed guards shooting people if they get too close.

So spicer reiterated the alt-fact that trump has the most attended inauguration ever.

Trump met with congress and told them 3-5 million illegal votes costed him the election.

Apparently trump gets bored and tries to watch tv then tweet about it, something his staff actively has to stop him from doing.

We are going to veer into some seriously dangerous territory if trumps team operates on a completely delusional version of reality. If you look at statements through the election like we're in a crime wave, Mexicans are rapists and criminals, muslims are concealing radicals amongst them, the media is "at war" with trump, America doesn't manufacture anymore, the policies that follow from these ideas are dangerous.

I'm a little surprised too priebus has been so completely subsumed by this... this will be fascinating for political scientists in a few years.

PMI is such an evil thing for first time home-owners who can't afford a large down payment. The burden was going to be eased a little. But nope, can't have that.

Do you have a mortgage? We have a conventional mortgage now, but our first one was an FHA that required $200/month in PMI that was going to nothing. Not even tax deductible. A reduction in PMI would help everyone.

Do you even know what PMI is?

it doesn't go nowhere. It goes to the bank!

while pay the bank additional insurance on top of the mortgage you're paying them sucks the added risk for the bank is there. It also has nothing to do with fiscal responsibility or whatever random talking point JCE drew out of his hood.

I hope lawyers are looking into the fha thing. Seems like retaliation for some private business issue.

One effect of costlier borrowing tends to be lower list price for real estate, which obviously benefits trump personally.

I've seen this reported lightly a few places but Trump's people refusing to name what unemployment rate is now is just really bizarre. The worst part of me has to believe that it is a way for him to falsely claim he made it drop 6-12 months from now or a way to save face if his policies don't work right away.

^ it might be time to just accept he is a thin-skinned baby boy who railed against PC culture but then needs it to protect himself from getting sad and move on to policy and his actions. As I said, + on rolling back TPP but can move to a - if he starts slapping tariffs and trade wars. - on basically everything else.

The fact that Trump is so defensive about this sort of thing is definitely extremely concerning. These are the sort of things that most people wouldnt even give the time of day. I don't care who you are people are going to protest against you and not like you welcome to politics but crying about it like a baby because you think you are great... what is gonna happen when its actually something important?

National Day of Patriotic Devotion
Quote :
"NATIONAL DAY OF PATRIOTIC DEVOTION
9570
- - - - - - -
BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
A PROCLAMATION
A new national pride stirs the American soul and inspires
the American heart. We are one people, united by a common
destiny and a shared purpose.
Freedom is the birthright of all Americans, and to preserve
that freedom we must maintain faith in our sacred values and
heritage.
Our Constitution is written on parchment, but it lives in
the hearts of the American people. There is no freedom where the
people do not believe in it; no law where the people do not
follow it; and no peace where the people do not pray for it.
There are no greater people than the American citizenry,
and as long as we believe in ourselves, and our country, there
is nothing we cannot accomplish.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United
States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by
the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby
proclaim January 20, 2017, as National Day of Patriotic
Devotion, in order to strengthen our bonds to each other and to
our country -- and to renew the duties of Government to the
people.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this
twentieth day of January, in the year of our Lord two thousand
seventeen, and of the Independence of the United States of
America the two hundred and forty-first.

If you're making a down payment of less than 20%, you probably shouldn't be buying the house in the first place.

But hey, lets incentivize people buying homes they can't afford. That never caused any economic problems did it?

We didn't have 20% when we first bought our home. We waited, made our house payments (with PMI) and when the time was right, we refinanced with a conventional.

But again, you didn't answer my question. Have you purchased a home with 20% down? For a 180k home, which is right there around the median home price, you need 36k down for a conventional loan. Let's look at teachers, who in Wake county start out making in the low 30k's per year. How long do you think it would take a teacher, while simultaneously paying for rent, to save up 36k?

So please, if you want people to take you seriously, answer their questions.

[Edited on January 24, 2017 at 12:26 PM. Reason : And Wake Co. is the second highest paying CO for teacher salary in the state]

How can I take a post like this seriously? You're essentially asking me how money works and implying it is unfair.

If you can't afford $36k, maybe you shouldn't be trying to buy a 180k house.
