Yeah the oblivion set is decent for mages, but I recommend if youre a tailor, going for the Frozen shadoweave set (or spellfire if youre a fire mage). These pieces have insane +dmg on them and stam/int to boot (the shoulders have 50 i believe). Personally I'd probably have used those instead of the tier 4 mages (the tier 4 stuff doesnt seem to have that much +dmg). 2/20/2007 1:27:17 PM |

Oblivion is meh. The only reason would I wear oblivion over the half-dozen other robes that I can get in pug instances is because Im a dark pact lock. The 2-piece set bonus gives my pet 42 mp5, which basically means I get 42 mp5. 2/20/2007 2:58:11 PM |

rofl at manipulating arena points
Why are people so god damned dense that they don't understand that in 6 weeks you can have an epic 1H that's better than anything in the game right now and all you have to do is spend 20 minutes of your time every week losing 10 arena matches? 2/20/2007 6:06:02 PM |

People are refusing to do pvp arena because "it's for 1337 pvpers. it's too hard."
you don't even need to try/win/anything to get the pvp epics with the way it's set up 2/20/2007 6:54:03 PM |

in my opinion if you go 0-10 you shouldnt get shit, you should have to go .500 for the week to get any points, but thats just me 2/20/2007 8:44:05 PM |

they cant do it recordwise. as more teams start getting spread out the games become more accurately 'seeded'. meaning teams around 2000 tend to only get paired against teams 1900+. a lot of times this means we are playing the same 4-5 teams that are at the upper echelon of the entire battlegroup.
so you cant say someone who goes 4-6 and only played games against teams in say the top 5 of the entire battlegroup (out of hundreds of teams) shouldnt get points while a team that had a rating of 1300 played really crappy teams that happened to be worse than them goes 9-1.
for example, our record got worse as we moved up in the ranks because you actually start seeing competition. at first everyone was 1500 and youre pulling random teams and out of the hundreds of teams most are not very good. ~1800 is a good checkpoint as you start to pull 1900 etc area teams more and less scrub teams. 2/20/2007 9:31:47 PM |

The +crit is nice on the Spellfire ones, but do you think going Frozen shadoweave for the +stam is nice and switching to Frost. I am not particularly attached to Fire or Frost...I am only really attached to the Arcane tree. Any suggestions?2/20/2007 10:11:18 PM |

On a different note, does anyone know a good place to quest for levels 50-60? I have a level 50 alliance paladin right now in Um'Goro crater or w/e but its nothing but grinding for drops. The xp rewards seem alright but god dammit if it isn't boring.

I'll agree, but such is their shitty system.
I'll do this one more week and reform the team so I start over w/ 1500 points. Cheapest AND BY FAR the easiest fucking epic I've ever bought

My mage was 40/0/21, and that seemed really good for pvp. I definately enjoyed frost better for "controlled crits" via frost nova & shatter. The frozen shadoweave set is definately the way to go for pvp, since youre looking for a lot of + dmg and stamina.2/21/2007 12:01:23 AM |

^^ resetting it so your team is at 1500? are you losing so much that youre below 1500? :x if you havent played games yet you should know that you can be below 500 and still be above 1500, ive seen it plenty
the system is honestly as good as youre going to get in any mmorpg pvp *rating* system imo. im not talking pvp mechanics, just the rating. ppl that go 0-10 arent getting THAT many points..itd take em like 2 months to even get 1 item but enough to keep them happy. 0 points meaning people quitting hte arena system fast.
at least this way bad teams start getting put up against bad teams and probably start going .500 again. whereas good teams get mostly good games..less pulling graveyard camp worthy teams in WSG all night and never pulling a good team.

^ We're just manipulating the shit. None of us have anything remotely resembling a pvp spec and we don't care. We just play the min 10 games, lose as quick as possible, and get our arena points.
I'm more than willing to switch to a pvp spec since my rogue is useless in pve now, but even so, I can't find anyone else that's worth a damn to join a team with, so I'll stick with losing 10 really quick, wasting 20 minutes of my time every week and getting my epic in a couple weeks.

well im not sure which piece or weapon you are talking about, but if you are going 0-10 you arent even getting 400 points a week. arena gear is 1875 for a single piece, 2H weapons, staffs, xbows are almost 4000.
it would take almost 3 months of what you are doing to get a weapon, and over a month just to get one single piece of arena gear. i mean sure it is "free"(gotta pay the small fee to reform team) but its not fast or anything. assuming your rating is somewhere between 1350-1400 each 0-10 week youll barely get one of the weapons at the end of the first arena season.
also..there are a lot of bad teams out there, i dont know why you dont try in those 10 games...if youre Qing for them anyways if youre halfway decent youll be above 1500 every week and getting more honor. heck 1600 rating takes nothing you could swing that. just seems silly to not try and reset every week when you could win a few games and get more points and still play only 10 games
eidt..just saw you were a rogue so yea itll take you a little over a month for a weapon. i suppose in that case its not that bad..however you should think about my suggestion here...if youre doing this..save all your points this arena season, DONT spend them. and then start the next arena season with like 4k arena points and buy 2 of the new weapons immediately. if you are pve spec then im assuming youre hardcore pveing in which case you can find suitable weapons now to hold yourself over

^ Chocolate Thunder is definitely still one of the better PVP guilds in the battlegroup. a couple of their 2v2 teams have been the only 'non gimmic' teams to beat my priest friend and I. and by gimmic i mean 2 rogue teams with 16 straight seconds of blind on me while burning down my priest and then double evasion and alternating cheap shots on me :/. if the rogues are undead or wear their pvp trinket they shouldnt lose to our combo unless they are really bad.
Their 5v5 A-team is solid atm as well

I'm a combat mace rogue. I've always been a pretty serious PvPer, but the internet at wolf creek has taken a shit in the last week. Doing an arena team right now would be embarassing. The only thing I want to do in the game is 2v2 arena, and I can't because of it. 2/21/2007 12:37:14 PM |

@SkankinMonky
Yeah, the tier 3 crafted mace is pretty ridiculous. The DPS and damage range are one thing that makes it great, but another thing is the fact that they're 2.70 speed. That makes them some of the only viable hemo weapons in the game right now, aside from the arena weapons and the sword off Netherspite. It would be good for combat maces, but combat maces also does fine with a 2.6 speed weapon. 2/21/2007 1:32:53 PM |

hemo did not get normalized, so the multiplier is going to be your weapon damage x speed of the weapon
whereas ambush/SS/GS/etc are all weapon damage x 2.4? (i forget the multiplier)
for hemo you always want the slowest, hardest hitting weapon you can find. What level are you?
