I wanted to buy the new Veet ready made body wax strips, but they were sold out. So, I cheaped out and got the Sally Hansen Wax Strip Kit. You don't heat it up or anything, just warm it in your hands by rubbing. Plan on doing it Thursday, I'll post results!

This is right--what I read is that it just eliminates the co-pay requirement. Which will be awesome. $15 less I have to spend a month!!

I would recommend not waxing for the first time right before a vacation. I have had extremely icky results from waxing at times. If you do go with it, at least try a small area first and wait a day to make sure your skin does OK with it.

I've tried the hand warmed strips many times, hoping to get different results, but they don't work well for me. I am Mediterranean though.

Popsicle sticks FTW!

That's awful! Is it the same everywhere? Like if you had your brows waxed too? Definitely do not want that kind of reaction.

My eyebrows were OK but I only had them waxed like once in 7th grade.

I think I am prone to hair follicle issues for some reason though. I get ingrowns all the time.

This is what I use. Not sure I have any before and afters, but anyone who knows me knows I have huge caterpillar eyebrows. I waxed them smaller than usual for the wedding, and I actually think I did a damn good job!

Before (and not the worst it has ever been):

Only after pic I could have:

^^Yeah, given my chosen profession, laser isn't ever going to be in my budget if I keep it real.

^Nice job!

they have groupons for it sometimes. is that weird. to get a groupon for laser hair removal? probably.

(i realize it takes more than one treatment usually though right?)?

^^ you did do a good job! how do you shape them so well? i feel like i suck at it (i use the nads strips, same difference)

^ also you said the strips didn't work for you. but the hot wax works better? can you elaborate? haha. i have really dark hair too

^^ I have thought about getting it for underarms but never have.

And you are a seriously brave soul for waxing your own eyebrows. If I did that I'd end up with awkward half-brows.

I usually go once or twice a year and get it done professionally to get the shape right and then just clean them up by myself, but I got very brave this time and just went for it.

Love them! I use the preshaped ones for my eyebrows with a nice result. (Given this photo was taken back when I cared. )

I also used the unshaped strips to get rid of the facial hair of doom that I had while preggo.

OMG, YES!

http://www.amazon.com/Hair-Off-Instant-Eyebrow-Shapers/dp/B000A3V1QO

They're not Sally Hansen. DOH! But they're Hair Off and I love them.

Well for $6, I can wax my eyebrows 18 times.

^^ REALLY? how often do you have to go. i might as well just do that and then try to fix them myself like elise (like the upkeep). i feel like i need to just grown them all out and start from scratch

i've actually been trying to do that for like 7 years

but i have this thing with stray hairs. it is almost an OCD thing. cannot handle. so once a hair grows back that is out of place i'm like *PLUCK*

^ yea that is true the $6 have lotsa strips in there. i am totally going to get the preshaped ones now THANK YOU. my eyebrows mostly thank you hahaha. esp the one i accidentally ripped too much off of that one time

it costs 6 bucks for a box of strips that last me 10 waxings. so 100 bucks v. 6 bucks and a little time and effort?

A friend of mine has been getting her chin and stache done (lasered) forever...way more than five trips...or maybe that was electrolysis? Which is the one for people with more olive complexions?

khcadwal, I can never get the strips warm enough, and they don't get even close to all the hair, and they leave a sticky residue on me. Hot wax comes off clean and gets way more hair, but not all of it, and it is hard (for me) to get the angle/direction right.

I have zero trouble getting the sally strips warm enough, I actually sometimes warm too much and the wax squeezes out a little.

well I only get them waxed a couple times a year and then just tweeze in between. I definitely do not spend 100 some dollars on waxing my eyebrows. and I mean if you can wax your eyebrows more power to you but........ i just feel like i would fuck mine up royally. like wax one WAY too thin on accident or something. 10 bucks is worth it for me

i have to wax way more frequently than that

i think (and i know i'm always coming up with diseases but this is legit) i might have a hormone imbalance

because this rapid hairgrowth (TMI i know) has only started in the last year and it is growing places it never really grew before AND it grows back in like a week

i should prob ask my doctor about it huh. its starting to get really irritating.

and no i am not nor have i ever been preggars (obligatory tww disclaimer)

I always liked how pouring hot wax on skin makes it all smooth after (plus I liked peeling it off)

and I mean that statement in a totally nonsexual way -- sometimes I get bored and just drip wax on my hands

The Glade candles are apparently good for skin for a cheapo normal candle. That's what strippers bring when they do house calls, anyway.
