.I surfed in on the tail end of the bonuswhores.com era. I did a bunch of referral whoring in 2005 or so with Absolute Poker. They had a ridiculously easy hand requirement and you had to be a fucking idiot not to deposit the required 20.00, play 100 hands and get your 50.00 bonus before busting out.
As the referer my $100 bonus was instant and without any strings, so I started offering people $50 instant transfer to their AP account after clearing it. That got me more bites, but it wasn't until I started offering to stake them with neteller/ewallet AND offer $50 at the end did I really start going crazy. I think I had over 30 sucessful referrals ~$1500 and since each one got me an entry into their cruise/vacation sweepstakes, I won that too and they gave me like 3 grand to cover it.
The only problem I had was MacGuyver busting out and not paying me back. And some dude scammed me for 50 bucks on an AP/PS transfer. Unforunately, the next month the referral program was reorganized and no longer lucrative.

Hello,
PokerStars has become aware of two players who were working together in our Sit & Go tournaments to the detriment of other players. You were involved in at least one tournament with these players and as a result you may have been adversely affected.
The players' accounts were closed and their funds frozen pending a thorough investigation, which is now complete. Fortunately the problem was identified quickly and they had only played in a few tournaments before the accounts were closed.
In a case such as this it is our policy to confiscate the colluders' winnings or balances and to distribute them to the players affected by their actions in as fair a way as possible. To confirm your credit, log onto your PokerStars account, go to the 'Cashier' screen and click the 'History' button. Your share will be shown "ADMIN CREDIT", followed by the amount of the credit.
I regret that we will be unable to answer questions as to how your specific credit amount was calculated. Likewise, we are not at liberty to identify the specific games or players in question. Suffice to say that they have been barred from the site and you will not encounter them again.
The integrity of the games at PokerStars is of paramount importance to us and we will not abide cheating or collusion in our games. We work hard to police our games and prevent such instances. In the rare cases where collusion has actually occurred, we make sure that any players affected are compensated appropriately.
Thank you for your continued play here on PokerStars. Please do not hesitate to let us know any time we can be of help.
Kind Regards,

Dave
How are the cash games in Raleigh? Still the same I assume.
I went to AC last week and got destroyed. I couldnt hit a draw to save my life.
I play with some co workers once a month. They run a 1/2 cash game with a 100min and no cap, cash plays. There was about $4k on the table when this hand happened.
I limp UTG with 6h 6d. Everyone is in the hand (6 total) and the BB raises $5. 4 people to the flop...
As 6c 3s....BING....
BB bets out $10, I call hoping to trap (BB is a friggin maniac)...next guy folds, guy after raises to $75....
BB hesitates for all of 2 seconds and then calls the $65. At this point I have $425 behind me. I decide to jam it all in here knowing that the re-raiser either has 33 or a big ace he isnt going to lay down. Well, my read was wrong because he insta folded. The action is now on the BB who tanks. Eventually he shows me 5s 7s and starts wanting to talk business ie: running twice, etc. I stay silent (for the first time in my life). After thinking for 6-7 min, I call clock on him. He then calls me.
I decide to run it twice and boat both times.
I did the math and figured i was a 66/33 favorite.
Any thoughts or further analysis on this hand? 8/8/2009 2:14:11 PM |

You should never be limping T9o EP in FR. If you're that bored, play more tables.
As played.. you could shove and hope to flip against an overpair > JJ. Folding is better, you're only in for $.50 and if you run the risk of getting it in really bad.

moe All American 683 Posts user info edit post |
Why would you put him on Kings? I doubt he would shove the flop there with the A hitting when he only has kings. He might as well have 22,33,44, etc to make that play. It is a very strong play by him and I doubt he'd do it without an A or set (he may think you are bluffing at the A, but I doubt it). Here I think that the best you can hope for is a chop. He's most likely to have set or AQ IMO. I doubt he'd shove with AJ but I suppose its possible. 8/14/2009 9:19:07 AM |
StingrayRush All American 14628 Posts user info edit post |
nevermind, i reread the history. i'd probably call as well, but looking back it seems to be a pretty easy fold. like ^ said, the best you can really hope for is another AK, with AA and QQ the other most likely hands. i doubt he would shove with KK after you bet hard into it, especially with a good sized stack like that

Yeah, there are really only four hands you can put him on there and you only beat one of them. 8/14/2009 1:12:50 PM |
Grandmaster All American 10829 Posts user info edit post |
Yeah, it's definitely a textbook example of playing outside one's limits. I seriously seriously considered folding and the call came at the last split second of my time bank after his re-raise occurred in the exact same fashion. I literally stared at the 159 left to call knowing deep down I was probably beat (putting him on kings was probably just denial) and I incorrectly thought by then I was committed to the pot.
At that point I was sitting with 1.5 the max and feeling pretty good -- I doubled my remaining 40 and then took a break. Came back to some SNGs and I'm somewhat close to break even, which is still way way up for the week. I did pretty well in ACY at 1/2 and honestly I think I just need to stop being lazy, cheap and an overall idiot and read the staples in NLHE literature.
Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled programming. Thanks for the input. 8/14/2009 2:32:51 PM |
NoidRoid All American 7642 Posts user info edit post |
This is a spot where you really need the villain's 3bet%. If he's a FR nitball, three betting <3% of the time, folding is your best option. If he's a thinking player who abuses FR nitballs with three bets, I'd bump it up to ~$75 preflop or commit yourself to the hand with a bigger four bet.
Calling oop is your worst option preflop. If you're going to do so, at lease check raise that flop to make up some of the equity you've already pissed away. A small lead would be better to induce a spew from KK/JJ/TT/AJ, the big lead will almost never get you action from a hand you beat.
^ you wrote that while I was typing, looks like you figured it out on your own. PT3/HEM is pretty essential for 200NL, decisions like this are really hard to make without three bet stats.

I usually do well in-person when playing tournaments, but I just can't catch a break in online poker. I've been playing some of the SNG tournaments as well as a couple regular tournaments. I tried a turbo but I'm more of a conservative player so the fast blinds throws me off. 8/18/2009 9:30:51 AM |
