From WRAL:

Quote :
"Orange County District Attorney Jim Woodall said Nyang’oro is expected to surrender Tuesday, when his first court appearance is scheduled for 2 p.m."

I guess the Orange County DA could do what the NCAA and UNC could not; locate him. I know he "disappeared" to Africa for a while so he was unable to be interviewed.

The NCAA said they were waiting for all the legal and internal investigations to end before they made they investigate and/or complete the judgement. Hope they are true to their word and move in after Nyangaro accepts the plea deal...

So they were able to garnish $12,000 for his final paycheck how much was he getting paid per paycheck?

Man I hope that was a BIG foot in mouth from UNC officials!

12,000 seems like a paltry sum too for what would be years of fake classes. I know adjuncts don't get much but still.

Oh hell yes. Please allow this clown to sit in a court room and describe all the shenandigans going on at UNC. Also his uncle has a sweet ass name.

Quote :
"His uncle, Sichle Sikazwb, said the family believes he is innocent and will continue to stand by him.

"He hasn't done anything wrong," Sikazwb said. "It seems the whole world is going after him as if he was the whole university. He wasn't the whole university; he was just a professor."

Teaching was Nyang'oro's passion, according to his uncle, and UNC has made him a scapegoat for troubles in its athletics program.

"Why aren't they going after other people? You mean he is the only one who has done all the wrong?" Sikazwb said.

"

WRAL can't even report the news correctly. What the hell are they doing over there? Yeah, "they found no link"... because they didn't even look; they admitted as such!

"There was the academic aspect and people were saying players were cheating and then that the honor court was corrupt. The honor court found one player was innocent, but then NC State fans get a hold of a paper that the kid turned in and there was plagiarism, and so the whole honor system that had been in place for 250-some years was under attack. The chancellor was under attack. It was unrelenting. We're in the midst of trying to stop a tsunami on the football team and there's this media perception and we're still trying to play Florida State and Clemson and Miami and win games. Then, the [Raleigh} News & Observer had all these editorials saying they should fire the chancellor. And I guess he panicked and so he fired me."

http://www.wralsportsfan.com/attorney-charged-ex-tutor-never-been-an-agent-/13225423/

Quote :
"HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Prosecutors have provided about 40,000 pages in investigative records to attorneys for five people charged with violating the state's sports agent law by providing benefits to former Tar Heels football players in 2010.

During a brief court hearing Tuesday, Orange County district attorney Jim Woodall said prosecutors will provide more records by Feb. 1 to attorneys for the defendants — which include a Georgia-based sports agent and a former UNC tutor.

The next hearing is set for April 29 due to the volume of files, which prosecutors provided on a computer hard disk and 23 CDs in a small white box. Bill Young, who represents one of the defendants, called the amount of discovery files "at the moment, overwhelming.""

I've been fairly out of the loop on this today and I don't read PP, but is there any proof of this:

Quote :
"University officials believe a group of message board users from the website Pack Pride may be behind it. Carol Folt, UNC's current chancellor said that someone by the name of manalishi has the skills and know how to perform such a break. "They've done it before, over there at State. They have the time and expertise it seems." Folt stated."

Or are they just slinging shit against a wall?

Your University Chancellor is specifically targeting a message board user and addressing him by his username. Which part of that University is not a joke at this point?

I guess I'm even further out of the loop... what was that in reference to? For all I know it appears to be a thinly veiled attempt to shift blame away from what they did to blaming the people that caught them?

I don't get what the expectations of all the prosecutions are either. It's like an athlete sold a pair of shoes and the hammer is dropped on the person that bought the shoes as opposed to the athlete that sold them. Maybe the expectation is that the trials will air dirty laundry... but absolutely nothing will come of it. The state's focus is stringing up those awful people that corrupted our baby. Nothing to see here?
