Tubby would've been a good hire when we hired Lowe. With Tubby, you're getting a guy who would be going into his last job, probably looking for close to $2 million a year, and you have no guarantee that he isn't going to mail it in. Also, we'd be running another coaching search in 5-7 years.
No thanks. 2/2/2011 3:56:32 PM |

Fuck no we don't want no old ass Tubby Smith. He's washed up. He's done. He's like 30-31 in Big Ten conference play with the Gophers. We need a young spark plug to come in here and put his foot up the asses of these lazy players.

Tubby Smith is possibly the best realistic candidate out there.
If he can give us 7-10 years, we'd be dumb not to hire him. That' s a long time in the ACC, most coaches don't stay that long.
Hell, if we hire some up-and-comer, there's about a 90% chance we'd fire him before Tubby retires anyways. We'd at least be a top 15ish team coming off of multiple NCAA's going into the next coaching search and be a much more attractive job

Based on the fact that very few up and comers ever work out in the ACC.
The odds of hitting a homerun hire are slim. I just don't see a candidate that seems to be a can't-miss prospect.
How many coaches have coached in the ACC for 10 years that moved up from a mid-major?
How many have struck out or been fired after 5-6 seasons?

I'm not thinking he's some kind of savior, I'm just saying I'd rather have him than a Gregg Marshall, Chris Mack, etc. I just can't get behind any candidates out there at the moment

How the fuck did he win 20 games with our least talented team in 20 years last year...

This team can't fucking rebound. I guess they tricked me earlier this year into thinking that had been fixed. Rally we won with our least talented team because it had a significant level of experience. At this point, I am pretty certain Lowe is not cut out for the college coaching realm I think the offense is too complicated, and he just doesn't get how critical defense is to the offense of teams on the college level. Thanks for bringing in talent and getting the "stage set" for the next coach.

Well here is the good news.
It's not going to look like a tough firing. No one is going to be scared of coming to the program with "unrealistic expectations".
After 5 years of missing the tournament our expectations are non-existent.
Also, we have good young talent and still top notch facilities and exposure.
This job seems ripe for competition in this economy. I cant imagine we don't have good options to choose from.
I still dont think its right to boo Sidney. Obviously, he choked big time this season but he's re-loaded the program with an infusion of talent and recruiting connections and he won us a National Championship.
Let's make this separation amicable. Support the team, Support Sidney for the rest of the season and then just everyone go their own ways.
We don't need to lose Harrow, Brown, or Uchebo during this process. Booing helps no one. 2/2/2011 8:04:47 PM |

biggest issue is that i am growing to despise this team b/c of their lack of effort
i think cj williams and maybe lo brown are the only players who seem to bust ass at all times.

And didn't Lowe speak specifically about how they had a practice where they got very physical and were hitting each other in an effort to get stronger down low
Doesn't seem like they're being to aggressive at all in the rebounding game after all that 2/2/2011 8:09:33 PM |

yea tracy is turning into costner 2.0.
he busts ass for about the first 15 of the shot clock, and first 10 min of the game, then he starts to realize it doesnt matter b/c we cant get him the fukcing ball so he gives up.
actually that shot reminds me, wood tries he just cant get open anymore and seems unable to make a shot inside the 3 pt line

oh i don't hate leslie at all.
but he needs to get it through his head that taking three's isn't his game right now.
also, he is not ready to be a defender on this (or the next) level. (P.S. That's the reason recruits under the previous coach often didn't see the court much their freshman year a la cedric simmons) 2/2/2011 8:58:47 PM |
