Wonder if the sudden about face has something to do with backlash from the whole "It's an academic issue because anyone could get a fake degree" excuse? I figured that sooner or later the athletic department would get slapped back in line by the private purse strings funding the school for degrading the academic integrity of the university. For a school that likes to think of itself as a "Public Ivy", that wasn't a very smart deflection tactic for the athletic department.

I guess at this point UNC has to weigh the consequences of just coming clean and admitting to two decades of wrong doing while pledging to change moving forward in order to restore their academic reputation, or just continue to allow their name to get drug through to mud to defend athletics. Based on the most recent statements from Folt and Dean, it sounds like they are ready to start opening up.
