i've been reading this casimir stuff.
seems like the orchid may be some kind of worm hole based on its icon. or prehaps a way to move the island in time relative to the rest of earth.
*****SPOILER*****
They also said something on the podcast about an episode coming soon about what would happen if one of the supply drops was dropped on the wrong bearing. Maybe more keys to the wormhole/timewarp/warpfield/walt is the smokemonster (lol jk) theory.

Yeah, the producers have said that we're supposed to find out who's in the casket in the final episode. They also said that the obituary Jack was holding at the end of last season was just a prop and the partial name wasn't supposed to indicate who it was. 5/19/2008 4:03:48 PM |

I got my gf hooked on Lost so we've been watching (I've been rewatching) the first season and one thing that really comes to mind now that I already know the backstory of all the characters is how did Locke become such a badass? Every flashback we saw of him, he was either in a wheelchair or a complete pussy that let people walk all over him. When/how did he learn about boars and throwing knives and hunting/tracking and all that stuff? 5/29/2008 9:43:43 AM |

^ I only started watching Lost this year, so I started with Season ONe and got myself caught up by the beginning of this season. In one of the episodes, I can't remember what season, Locke's father is introduced and together they do all these activities like hunting. I guess he learned during his time spent with him. 5/29/2008 9:56:15 AM |
Wraith All American 27257 Posts user info edit post |
I thought about that, but the only hunting they ever do is bird hunting with rifles in their local area... nothing nearly as intense as what Locke does on the island. In the early episodes, he is going on about all this stuff relating to different types of boar and their migration patterns and crap like that, and even everyone on the island is like "Whoa, what's the deal with that guy?". Also, I won't spoil exactly what happens since you just started watching, but Locke's dad does make a few more appearances and it is quite evident that he isn't a jungle badass like Locke is. 5/29/2008 10:51:41 AM |

After that creep guy (Lt. Daniels from the Wire, can't remember his Lost name) suggests a Walkabout he probably really gets into it and studies all those sorts of things. 5/29/2008 10:57:33 AM |

^^ yeah he was. However, at that point he was still in the wheelchair, but I think that play a large role in why he is so aggressive now, it for him a way to prove he is no longer limited in what he can do when he felt bound the chair previously.

Locke was, for all intents and purposes, a geek, if not a stereotypical one. Geeks often have an affinity for knives, swords, medieval-type weapons, and also for picking up survival skills. He was also a loner, giving him plenty of time for research and time alone outdoors, so maybe he picked up some hunting and survival skills on his own5/29/2008 1:18:31 PM |

I can buy that I guess, it just seems like it would be too much stuff for him to know on research/reading alone. Yeah he probably read up on different types of boar and various things to hunt when preparing for the walkabout, and I guess he could have learned to throw knives while sitting in his wheelchair, but some things you just have to and practice that he couldn't have done in a wheelchair.5/29/2008 2:06:34 PM |

He was in Australia to do a walkabout, which I guess is like paying to survive in the Outback. Once he got there, though, he was told he couldn't go because he was in a wheelchair. It was one of the thousands of times he's said, "Don't tell me what I can't do!!"
He also talked a lot in season one about everyone getting a new life on the island. He's living his second life as a badass woodsman.5/29/2008 2:16:46 PM |
Wraith All American 27257 Posts user info edit post |
Yeah I guess that makes sense. If he had the mindset of being able to do all that stuff then perhaps the island (or maybe his confrontation with the smoke monster) actually enabled him to do it. 5/29/2008 3:29:31 PM |

Win: empty Place: Locke Show: polar bear 5/29/2008 5:19:28 PM |
dzags18 All American 5694 Posts user info edit post |
Well earlier in this season I would've said Michael. But after his fairly worthless return I'm thinking its safe to assume hes done tonight (He will probably sacrifice himself and blow up in the boat). I'm guessing Keamy dying wont trigger the boat immediately because of the time difference and he will stay behind because he cant fit on the boat.
So other then Michael I would think the only other people could be Desmond, Locke or Jacob. Desmond at this point would be meh, Jacob would be stupid since we still know nothing about him, so I guess its gotta be Locke.
I didn't see this weeks promos though, do they show them opening the casket or something? 5/29/2008 5:27:10 PM |

Wraith All American 27257 Posts user info edit post |
Oh yeah I didn't think about the time difference between Keamy's signal and the boat's explosion, good eye. And it's not gonna be Desmond in the casket, Kate wouldn't be adamant against going to his funeral unless he does something really bad in the future which doesn't seem like his character. Either Locke or Ben would make the most sense but we know how this show likes to throw curveballs. 5/29/2008 5:33:33 PM |
