WTF!? We're trading Francis' clone for Tlusty? FUCK THIS SHIT!!!

oh, and Tlusty is -7 on the year in the AHL, ties for last on his team. GREAAAAT!

Paradis is as much a clone of Francis as Paul Maurice is a clone of Scotty Bowman.

This trade, by itself, is a good one. When taken in the context of the draft and who we passed on to draft Paradis only to swap him for Tlusty 5 months later, we look stupid.

Nothing reinforces confidence in management more than when the GM goes on the radio and admits he should've picked Landon Ferraro (AKA Chicken Parm Junior).

I'm saying he's a ronny clone in looks alone, certainly not his game.

Kudos to JR for admitting they fucked up the draft last year, and kudos to him for bringing in a player of Tlusty's caliber, but somebody needs to be held accountable for the Paradis pick. Whoever fell in love with him and sold him to the rest of the staff should feel repercussions.

To quote myself from the offseason thread on 6/26/2009:

"Here we go...

Every single player I want is still on the board. It is in JR's hands now."

For another first round pick, yes.

Paradis was 27th overall in '09, Tlusty was 13th overall in '06.

I've decided that if we finish 30th and Toronto finishes 29th, somehow Toronto will win the lottery and Boston will get Taylor Hall.

Even if we win we are probably going to pick Tyler Seguin.

wait wait wait, are you saying we'd pick a plymouth whaler over other (potentially better) players?

When I saw the Flyers had fired Stevens I thought Lavi would be a great hire.

If the Canes can't get out of his contract, why would they let the flyers talk to him?

This is pretty much the best combination of Friday night events that could have taken place. Lavi off the books, and McCarthy's useless ass gone too.

Grats to the Canes but this makes me sad as a Devils fan considering how the Canucks just stomped us the other night 5-2 and here the Canes were up 4-1 and ended up pulling it off.

Also, kudos to the laze-master for scoring the ugliest hat trick ever. One good goal, an own goal, and an empty netter, woo!

^^ could've sworn that shit was just a puck to the face, and not his stick. The replay at the game wasn't the best angle.

That was a phantom call.....tv replays showed the puck hitting Samsonov's stick then hitting the guy's head.

First non-shootout win I have witnessed this season. Too bad Erik Cole made me throw my damn hat and it didn't even make it onto the ice, plus when I went to buy a new one after they didn't have my size.

"Who would be on your team if you could be the GM for the Canes? "

I have been doing some thinking about this. Trying to be somewhat realistic...

-Matt Cullen and Aaron Ward to Chicago for Cam Barker and a 3rd round pick
-Ray Whitney to somewhere at the deadline for a 1st round pick
-Scott Walker to somewhere at the deadline for a 3rd or 4th round pick
-As much as it hurts me, trade Sergei Samsonov, and if he cannot be moved, buy him out in the summer
-If Joe Corvo cannot be moved at the deadline because of his injury, re-sign him for $3.25 million on a 1 year deal
-Realistically, Rod Brind'Amour is going nowhere. He plays next year here then retires
-Re-sign Jiri Tlusty at $900k
-Re-sign Nick Dodge at $550k
-Re-sign Justin Peters at $650k
-Draft Taylor Hall with the 1st overall pick in the 2010 draft. I am assuming a contract identical to Tavares. $900k base with a cap hit of $3.75 million due to performance bonuses
-Taylor Hall, Brandon Sutter, Zach Boychuk, Nick Dodge, and one of Jamie McBain or Brett Carson go into camp as roster players. Bowman could use another year in the AHL I suspect and will be a first call-up.

For next season I would have a lineup that costs between $48 and $49 million (Karmanos may not be willing to spend this much though), and at the end of the season Brind'Amour ($3) and Corvo ($3.25) would be coming off the books.

My roster:

Taylor Hall - Eric Staal - Erik Cole
Jussi Jokinen - Zach Boychuk - Tuomo Ruutu
Jiri Tlusty - Brandon Sutter - Chad LaRose
Nick Dodge - Rod Brind'Amour - Tom Kostopoulos

Joni Pitkanen - Cam Barker
Joe Corvo - Tim Gleason
Jamie McBain/Brett Carson - Andrew Alberts

Cam Ward
Justin Peters

I don't see us getting a 3rd along with Barker.... but other than that, all reasonable options. I really want Paul Martin on our team
