Hey Hibernian,
Why are you the only score not listed from this past weekend? What was the score?
Anyway, we tied again. We would be pretty awesome, if we could just score goals during live play and not have to hope for free kicks to set up a goal. Our first game was a 2-1 win. Both goals were PKs. Then we scored live action goals in the next game. Then 2 of the 3 goals vs Hibernian were free kick shots. We lost 1-0 to GCE, then tied 2-2 vs Newcastle thanks to 2 goals off of corner kicks. Now this past weekend we had a free kick just past half field. It was served into the box and someone got a head on it and scored. Final score, 1-1. 4/17/2012 12:54:43 AM |

0-0 vs newcastle this past weekend. they played amazing and we played like dog shit, the ref was apalling but not the reason we didnt win, we came out flat and coasted and didn't play well at all. they didn't have but 1 shot, none on target. 4/17/2012 6:33:27 PM |

That dropped us from 4th to 5th! Oh well, we have the 3 easiest teams in the league coming up before we end the season vs you guys.

I know, but some of the better teams have scored more goals during live play, thus they have a better record. My team would be pretty good, if we could do the same.

The Usual Jackals 1 Arsenal 1
We scored first too! I'm loving playing on my coed over 30 team this season. We are doing quite well and have competed pretty well in some of our losses too. Tonight may not have been a win, but tying the team that wins the league every season while almost never being scored on, feels good. 4/19/2012 11:39:35 PM |

^I would have loved to win tonight too, but I will take a 1-1 tie over a 9-1 loss like last season. It is just nice to be on two TASL teams that are actually able to compete with the rest of league every game. Last season my Coed Over 30 team finished 2-7-1. We've done better than that already. 4/20/2012 12:12:43 AM |

solid 3-2 victory for the Hibernian. Played as a team, and fought back from 1-0 and 2-1. Best game all season to play and watch. very quality play by both teams. 4/21/2012 9:11:22 PM |

So what is the scouting report on Cary Gunners? We have a makeup game vs them tomorrow night at the soccer center. We beat Raleigh Revolution 1-0 today to sweep them this season. One of our forwards scored on a side volley off of a corner kick. We still need to find a way to get more goals during the flow of play, but I'll take the win. 4/21/2012 9:34:46 PM |

^ lots of size up front, pretty decent midfield with shooters from distance. defense is slow and they can get sucked to one side of the field, look for the switch. 4/22/2012 6:52:35 PM |
Big4Country All American 11914 Posts user info edit post |
^Yeah they were fast, but always bunched up to one side of the field. Once again we scored off of a free kick in the first half that was served into the box when someone got a head on it. Then we gave up a goal off of a corner kick with 2 minutes left and tied at 1-1.
We are now 3-2-3. If we win out, we finish 5-2-3. If we go .500, then we finish 4-3-3. That would be our first winning season ever. Hopefully we can put an epic beat down on tww over the next two weekends to end the season. Hibernian is actually the only game where we kind of got our ass handed to us. Our other loss was 1-0 to Garden City on a second half goal. 4/22/2012 11:14:04 PM |

Big game for us on Sunday. Championship game for all intents & purposes, we win that game vs GCE we win the league (first tie breaker is head to head). We have been pretty consistent all season. We don't have any crazy 12-1 games, and we generally tried our best to be a fun team to play against. 4/22/2012 11:32:09 PM |
Big4Country All American 11914 Posts user info edit post |
Ugh! So close, yet so far away. We are in 3rd over Newcastle because of a tie breaker. When I look back at the season through now, three things stand out...
Garden City 1 Sporting 0
Newcastle 0 Hibernian 0
Sporting 1 Cary Gunners 1
Now 3 through 6 is still up in the air. If we had tied Garden City, Hibernian beat Newcastle and we had beat Cary Gunners, we would almost have 3rd place rapped up and be close to second place. 4/24/2012 8:18:01 PM |

If we had beat newcastle we'd be sitting pretty too, that game was a total joke compared to how we played the rest of the games, we probably should have scored atleast 2... it was just a comedic game. they sat 11 behind the ball and had 1 shot on target, 2 total shots, it was frustrating. 4/24/2012 9:43:29 PM |

Congratulations on your 4-0 win. At least the GK for my coed team will go into our next game with some confidence. I felt like something like this would happen. This was one of those games where we were playing a team about our skill level, only we were missing our 3 top scorers and about half our starting line up. That usually happens once a season.
Hibernian didn't do much better though. One of their players told me they tied at 0-0 and missed 2 PKs including one with 1 second left in the game. 4/28/2012 2:53:42 PM |

Hibernian FC-3 Garden City Eagles-2
Best game I've ever played in the C league. Both teams were good, GCE take a lot of bad fouls, but are a very good side. We were unlucky to not get 2 more. I got stopped on a breakaway and we hit a post from a tight angle. We went up 1-0, they tied it, we then scored the next 2 to make it 3-1, and they scored a goal with 10 to play to make it 3-2. The final 10 minutes were extremely intense. This win will mean nothing if we don't win next weekend in the final TWW Derby of the season.
Sporting you guys should be good sports and not show up 4/30/2012 12:58:49 AM |

^FC Rubbish has gotten better, but we were missing pretty much our entire starting midfield and our top three scorers. Outside of the first game vs FC Rubbish (9-0 W) we have one goal this season during the flow of play vs Hibernian (7-3 L). Everything else has come off of a free kick of some sort. Maybe you guys could just foul us everytime we cross the center line. 4/30/2012 1:37:31 AM |

Ahh... hoping you guys beat them too. Congrats on your victory. Hope we win the final TWW Derby of the season and clinch the league. It'd be the first time we win the league. Everyone has been a lot of fun to play this season except for a few teams. Only real douchey teams were Newcastle and GCE. How was everyone's season based on their preseason expectations? 5/1/2012 10:01:39 PM |
Big4Country All American 11914 Posts user info edit post |
^Well I hope you don't! I don't want to go 1-3-0 vs TWW.
As far as how Sporting Raleigh is doing compared to what I expected...we had only 2 losses 8 games into the season and then lost our 3rd game. We are 3-3-3. A win to end the season and we will finish with a winning record. When I looked at the schedule I felt like we could get to 5, or 6 wins. Before the season I talked to players who played for FC Rubbish and Raleigh Revolution and they pretty much told me they were planning on losing all of their game. I knew that wouldn't happen though. For my team to lose less than half of our games is something to be proud of though. It just sucks we blew it vs Cary Gunners with 2 minutes left (1-1 draw). We can finish between 3-5 in the standings yet.
As for The Usual Jackals (Coed Over 30)...We are playing better than I thought we would, but that is because we got younger and better talent than we had last season. We tied Arsenal who wins the league every season. That is an improvement over last seasons 9-1 loss. We also outplayed Absolute Mustard who finishes second every season, but lost 4-2 after a bad offsides call and after our GK let 2 slip through his hands that he should have caught. 4-2-1 is way better than our record 7 games into last season. I won't be shocked, if we win out and finish with 7 wins. We're in 4th out of 9 right now. 5/1/2012 10:35:28 PM |

Ah damn! Part of my starting center midfield is out! It looks like my team can still finish 3rd, but we would need a tie where both teams score at least one goal and then we would need to win. I kind of hope Cary Gunners wins just so we don't have to worry about dropping to 5th with a loss. I think we can win tomorrow though. 5/4/2012 7:47:42 PM |

We finish 5th. We were in 3rd two weeks ago and blew it. We lost 1-0 to the top two teams in the league and tied the 3rd and 4th place teams in the league. Our biggest downfall is we didn't have a goal scorer who could get about 12 goals a season. 5/5/2012 2:25:16 PM |

Rubbish gave up two late goals and lost to Garden City 2-0.
Our first two games we lost to Sporting Raleigh and GCE a combined -22 goal differential.
End the season vs the same two teams, go 1-1 with a +2 goal differential.

I played CASL co-ed a few years ago but I didn't like it because the fields were too small. I'm a goalie and if I'm going to play outdoors I want a full field and be able to kick the ball past midfield without the play getting blown dead. Any full-field leagues? According to the above criteria I guess I'm eligible for over 30 leagues but I can complete just as well with the youngins. 5/7/2012 2:05:51 AM |

Opstand plays in a men's over 30 indoor league at netsports. Ask him if he knows anyone that could hook you up. I know plenty of guys that play in the TASL weekend leagues that either play indoor, or TASL coed during the week. One of my former TASL Men's Open C teammates went to Over 30 too. A few guys on my indoor team play on TASL teams. We have some overlap with the Hibernian group, plus 2 or 3 other guys that play on different teams. I know one plays for Shepherd's House in Men's A and their keeper used to play at some international level in the past, so I don't think they are looking for anyone. I can ask around about the other teams though...
If you are interested in playing indoor Over 30, we will probably be needing a keeper soon. One of our midfielders had a knee injury and has been standing in as keeper for a couple seasons. He is having surgery soon, so we could use a regular GK. I know you said you wanted full-field outdoor, but if you wanted to pick up an extra game a week, let me know. 5/13/2012 10:32:50 PM |
