I mean…Morris definitely has incentive to spin things in a way that makes him look good here. He gets to tell his side of the story and make himself look good to the teams pursuing him. And DD can’t really come out and shit talk him…because that’s a bad look. Morris is probably telling the truth…or at least something pretty close to the truth. But you can’t quit mid season and expect it to all be cool. Especially a position like QB where you’re viewed as the leader.

We had one of the lowest attrition rates in the NCAA over the past couple of years (I think top three or four or something like that) because of the $25k/yr. I think we will upgrade in the portal with most of these dudes and position groups.

I realize what you're saying and largely agree, but there are 2-3 guys who are actually good transferring. The only reason they didn't play was injury.

Harris is leaving because his replacement was outstanding and he's not getting his job back. Clark is leaving because hey whatever he's walked twice at senior day already i think. Morris is leaving because lol.

Literally everyone else is not a big loss. We're losing a bunch of receivers who couldn't catch. We're losing a bunch of other guys who never saw the field.

In addition to Justin’s point…I think you should probably expect to lose a couple of good players every year in the portal if you’re State. It kinda sucks to lose a guy like Clark but I think that’s just the current reality. If we’re losing more than a couple actually good players then that might be cause for concern. Also if the staff can’t prove that they’re able to upgrade over the WRs that can’t catch or the RB losing time to a LB then that becomes a separate concern also.

Based on what we’ve lost (in my definitely non expert opinion) I think it’s reasonable to expect that we’re able to improve our roster through the portal this year. That might not be the case every year if we’re losing big time contributors who are transferring up to bigger programs.

He was class of 2022 so maybe not as directly impacted as 2020 and 2021 guys, but I’ve read that there were lots of misses and misevaluations in the those recruiting cycles due to weird Covid stuff. High schools playing less games, having seasons cancelled, travel restrictions for recruiting and scouting stuff.
