My sister swore never to put the big ugly headbands on her girl (when she didn't have hair), and she made it. Now that my niece has a ton of hair (seriously, for a 2.5 year old, she's got more hair than a lot of 5 year olds), she'll do a regular headband, but none of the infant headbands you're talking about.
