new Every Time I Die song is out there. I honestly haven't liked their last 3 albums much at all; the new song sounds decent though. Once they changed their style for HD! everything has kinda run together and sounded the same to me though.

haha I was definitely at that show with a bunch of friends (winter 2003). I pretty much went to only see Walls of Jericho. Their set had so much energy; it was definitely awesome. I stayed around for FATA but the night was definitely only about WoJ for me. (armor for sleep opened the show if I remember correctly...zzzz and silverstein played too who I am not a big fan of.).

so, an emergency appendix removal last week for our lead guitar player has pushed back the studio start date a few days . We were supposed to start our month stint last week but its not starting until Wednesday of this week. We're just going to try and finish it in a shorter time than we scheduled (we had fat built in anyways sorta).

trim the fat dawg. that sucks though. you'd like to be able to relax in the studio, even if just a little bit. hope your bandmate is ok. that's the important thing.

i'm sure the album will still rock!

thanks man , and yea definitely adds a little stress, but I think it will still be enjoyable time off for me once I get in there (I won't be there until this weekend). We could have possibly started sooner, but he was still in a lot of pain this weekend, so I don't know that 10 hrs a day of guitar + sleeping on a couch is the best thing for him without a few more days of rest behind him heh.

haha you got a great memory...i had forgotten why I even went to that show, and it was to see silverstein. i fucking love them. like you said armor for sleep was a snoozefest. and it was the first time i had seen WoJ and i was just blown away.

^^sounds stupid, but I can't tell you the rate that we get due to the contract b/w the label and the studio. I doubt either of them will read this thread, but you hate to get burned on something like that hah. I can tell you that his regular rates are $40/hr for normal producing, recording, editing, mixing, mastering etc. on Sun-Thurs 12pm-10pm. He doesnt charge for dinner breaks so it works out to 4-45 hours a week. By normal, I mean planned and booked 3+ months in advance. For overtime (Fridays and Saturdays), its usually $60 an hour.

He's always very lenient too. If you are running until 10:30 or just need some touch ups on a Friday or something, he's not out trying to make a quick buck and charging you out the wazoo. If it becomes a habit during the time you are there and you're taking advantage of it (ie weren't prepared to finish in the time allotted) then thats when you'll get charged.

Sorry if this sounds like a commercial, but he is awesome to work with; hes been doing this for a long time for both big bands and local bands (he was the drummer for Swift too if you remember them) and I definitely stand behind his studio (especially for heavier styles of music). I am also a fan of Warrior studio in carrboro (for rock and more melodic stuff) if you are asking because you are interested in recording something.

^ haha yea first time seeing WoJ for me and they were def solid. not a huge fan of theirs on record but live they are intense.

indeed, he's awesome. he actually produces too instead of just being a "producer" who is really no more than an engineer there to simply record you. Definitely a big difference.

yea. there have been some issues with the pressing, but I think its been isolated to the UK distribution/pressing service. The issue was that some of the CDs were somehow copied at a slower speed. The entire CD was slightly slowed down and thus had a slightly lower pitch.

Whoever told me about Shining like 8 pages ago thanks.

New album fucking rocks. Its weird, the more complex their leads/solos get the more simple all the other riffs are.

Also Keep of Kalessin is my new shit.

It felt super super technical and not that evil like anything on nocturnal or miasma. Its more like Unhallowed than anything else, however i think it said on that site that the bassist had been listening exclusively to necrophagist for like the last 6 months and that he wrote that one song.
