I see you are still harping on that hyperbolic straw.

Look, it is very simple. I provided you with quotes where McCain, when asked a tough question, will pull out the POW card in order to dodge the question.

You made a similar statement that Obama uses the Hope and Change card to dodge tough questions. I am still waiting for you to back that up.

It wasn't a strawman.

You attempted to play the tu quoque card. It is time to put your money where you mouth is.

Obama has been cruising through the last year by playing the hope and change card to avoid discussing specifics (as well as of course playing the race card)

if you need to see specific instances of this to realize it, theres no hope for you

if i said

MCCAIN "I WAS A POW" RAWR RAWR

OBAMA "HOPE AND CHANGE" RAWR RAWR

you'd probably only take issue with the 2nd part, because you're a partisan sheep

One Instance. Give me one Instance. I just want one instance of Obama dodging a question by using the hope and change card. Just one.

Not to jump into a middle of a conversation, but claiming that providing evidence is too high of a standard to hold someone to in making an argument is kind of weak.

are you really arguing that Obama has never used vague words like hope and change to answer questions?

before the DNC, that's all he ever did, which is why Democrats wanted him to say more

Quote :
"“I particularly hope he strengthens his economic message — even Senator Obama can speak more clearly and specifically about the kitchen-table, bread-and-butter issues like high energy costs,” said Gov. Ted Strickland of Ohio. “It’s fine to tell people about hope and change, but you have to have plenty of concrete, pragmatic ideas that bring hope and change to life.”"

^^So you acknowledge that your quick usage of the tu quoque was in fact premature and had nothing to do with the statements on McCain using POW as an excuse to dodge questions

^which has nothing to do with the discussion. I want an instance, such as I have provided where Obama dodges a question by using hope and change.

it has everything to do with the discussion... his usage of hope and change was so much that it's all anybody heard anytime he really talked about anything

if you want to be literal about it, then you're right.. he never directly responded with "hope and change"

but neither did McCain with "I was a POW"

lord have mercy. I provided many instances where McCain was asked direct questions and the response was along the lines of "I was a POW." I have yet to see a single response from either you or Twista that at all comes close to Obama dodging a question using a response along the lines of "hope and change."

What does how many homes John McCain owns have to do with being a POW?

What does the Keating 5 have to do with being a POW

What does healthcare have to do with being a POW

See the fucking point here? Or are you being purposefully obtuse as well.

At saddleback, Obama was asked about abortion. He says that we had a prolife president for 8 years and abortions have gone up, and we need to do something different.

The problem was abortions have gone down over Bush's term.

Not to change the topic... Do people on here support the fairpay act? Have you actually looked at that mess?

Obama's whole strategy is to get people so pissed off with thier lives, that they will want anything different. It has worked well for him. Stay away from specifics and just promise change.

^^^ Abortions seem to have remained stagnant from what I found:

In any case, abortions have an overall dropping trend for more than a decade, and are probably loosely correlated to economics (so i'd bet they stagnate for at least the nest year or 2).

There is no end in sight for the Iraq War, meaning, endless war

Unemployment is at 6.2% and rising.

As for wages and the employment issue, don't provide tax breaks to companies that outsource jobs. You want to outsource, you don't get extra government bucks to pay for it.

I just don't understand. Does Palin consider her and her staff above the law. If I failed to show up for a subpoena my ass would be in jail.

If the trooperage thing is just a "circus" by liberals and the firing of the minister was legit why not just give the panel what they want to hear???

Even if the case is complete BULLSHIT she is only hurting herself and making it look shady by not cooperating. Why don't my conservative right wing friends explain why this behavior is accepatable for a politician to act above the law even if the case is pure bullshit from her opponents and liberals.

And how would you fix this?

Quote :
"As for wages and the employment issue, don't provide tax breaks to companies that outsource jobs"

wow, I ask for an answer, and you give me a straight talking point.

Who is giving companies tax breaks by outsourcing jobs?
It seems that companies want to outsource jobs and move thier companies to avoid our high taxes. But raising them... seems to be the "fair" thing to do right.

Nuts, can you answer this?

^^yes we withdrew 8,000 troops, but are leaving 140,000 in place. I guess you aren't paying any fucking attention to the news in the world. As for giving those tax breaks, its part of the damned tax code.

something we should do, that will help the American worker would be to repeal the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and restore oversight and regulation to wall street. Also, it is important to invest in the infrastructure of our own country. Quit sending that money to Iraq, which as a surplus, and thus causing us to borrow more money on the world market. The main reason for wage stagflation in this country is the weakness of the dollar. How do we fix this? By not borrowing so much money from oversees. A modest income tax increase on top wage earners will go a long way in restoring fiscal trust in the American dollar.

I know why you are asking these questions. You want to make it sound like not only are you the least worked eye doctor out there, but you are also an economist.

nuts, ill actually agree with you on the weakness of the dollar, but the root of our problems come from spending.. not income. Hell the dems today are talking about another stimulus package. Of course this one is just extending unemployment benefits, food stamps, and welfare checks.

We HAVE to cut spending. period

LOL. McCain is a fucking moron. He actually through the President of Spain was some rogue Latin American dictator insulting Spain. That's competence right there.

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/09/18/1416114.aspx
Quote :
"Q: Would that invitation be extended to the Zapatero government, to the president himself?

McCain: I don't, I, you know, honestly, I have to look at relations, and the situations, and the priorities but I can assure you I will establish closer relations with our friends, and I will stand up to those who want to do harm to the United States of America. I know how to do both.

Q: So you have to wait and see if he is willing to meet with you, will you be able to do it in the White House?

McCain: Well, again, I don't. All I can tell you is that I have a clear record of working with leaders in the hemisphere that are friends with us and standing up to those who are not. And that's judged on the basis of the importance of our relationship with Latin America and the entire region.

Q: Okay, what about you? I'm talking about the President of Spain.

McCain: What about me what?"

hahahaha Here's a negative ad you won't see endlessly debated on cable news shows like the McCain sex-ed ad.

Quote :
"As first reported by the Washington Post, Obama's ad features a narrator saying: "They want us to forget the insults we’ve put up with…the intolerance…they made us feel marginalized in this country we love so much."

The screen then shows these two quotes from Limbaugh:

“…stupid and unskilled Mexicans”
—Rush Limbaugh

"You shut your mouth or you get out!”
—Rush Limbaugh

The narrator then says, “John McCain and his Republican friends have two faces. One that says lies just to get our vote…and another, even worse, that continues the policies of George Bush that put special interests ahead of working families. John McCain…more of the same old Republican tricks.”"

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/09/from-the-fact-1.html

I doubt you will ever see this stuff in an english-language ad from the Obama campaign. Then people would notice he's a two-faced used car salesman. Hope and Change, my ass.

Yet you and others called it a lie without reading the original source. Now you want to evaluate negative campaign ads based on their truthiness quality????? Please. Again, you arent focusing on the real problem. Yes its SO convient to say if we cut out iraq spending (100-150B) that our deficit(400B) would go away and all would be well.

With our national debt at 9Trillion, and with the long term promises of CURRENT entitlements est. to be 50Trillion... we need to do something about the MAIN problem.

PS. Earmarks arent going to fix the problem either.. but since neither party wants to face the real issue, dems cling to iraq.. repubs cling to earmarks.
