well....

obama was steady as usual. i think he did a pretty good job playing defense and he got to play a little offense through defense, which he clearly had rehearsed.

mccain just riled up his base even more. he came off as a fuckin' dick. he was very smug and contradicted himself several times. i don't think act 3 will play with undecideds.

I think McCain did a better job tonight.

I mean, he looked like a total dick doing it, and he won't convince anyone, but still.

good things for both candidates tonight. McCain showed that he isn't a corpse and actually has some fire on one of these. Obama showed some calm and cool

I think, regardless of who you're voting for, the line of the night was "If you wanted to run against Bush you should've run 4 years ago" (might be paraphrased)

McCain killed hard tonight. I don't care what you say, he came out swinging, and I think he hit a home run. To those who say Obama played great defense: all Obama did was say the same thing over and over and over. McCain would make a decent point, Obama would say 8 years of Bush. McCain would say "I'm not Bush," Obama would say 8 years of Bush. Yes, I'm biased towards McCain, but McCain did tonight what I think he has needed to do for a long time. McCain has said at least three things tonight that I have been saying for weeks he has needed to say. This might be a race again

something about Obama's delivery annoys me -- even when I actually agree with something he says, it pisses me off. Like he has to think about how to phrase it just right for the common person to understand... "uhh hmm what could can I use here that you'll understand ummm"

And before you come back with a McCain comment, his delivery isn't the best either, especially when he's unsure what he wants to say and ends up stumbling all over the place. But when he's really confident on something, he just comes right out and says it. Obama always has to take a minute to say something that could have been said in like 30 seconds.

McCain started off very strong, but he finished off behind. His reactions, his self-contradictions, his concentration on his base didn't help him.

I think it is more that Obama is trying to do his best to say something without really coming down on it either way in a way that one can expect accountability. As in, he's trying to talk out both sides of his mouth without looking like it.

Not much to say here, both did what they had to do. McCain went on the attack while Obama basically played prevent D. At the end of the day:

Congratulations President Obama.

McCain did so much better this debate. I would say he won, but that was mostly because he had low expectation coming in. Glad he hit Obama on the spending.

However when it came to Ayers/Acorn, Healthcare and the creepy cackle at the end McCain dropped it a little.

I still think I'm going to vote Obama.

nbc is having some thing with undecideds...they just asked if tonight's debate would make you more likely to vote for obama and 1 of the 6 raised their hand...then they asked the same thing about mccain and 3 of 6 raised their hand

i don't think anyone can argue obama won this debate b/c he had to go defensive so many times; you can say he did not lose but not that he WON it

whether that will be enough for mccain to make up for the amount he is supposedly behind is yet to be determined but i thought mccain did pretty well tonight minus a couple of things that he said

I liked this debate alot better, it actually allowed them to talk more and get off talking points. The mod did a great job, imo.

I do think this was the only debate mccain did better in. I would expect to see a little bounce from this in the next couple days.

The election is still Obamas to lose imo. But I have a glimmer of hope now.

i didn't say he lost; i just said you can't argue that he WON tonight: for a debate, he had to play too much defense and some of that credit goes to mccain
