Quote : | "No, it's a clear case of shitty weather in NH. The caucus was not cancelled, a single county's caucus was postponed until next week. Paul fans think this is so that the results aren't as widely reported as the outcome a few days ago. But you know what? Nobody fucking cared about Maine to begin with, it was reported on for maybe one or two days tops. It wasn't a battleground state, is notoriously RINO among the GOP, and nobody spending much money there.
And since Paul, coming in at 36% after never polling above 10% in Maine, was clearly gaming the caucus like so many online polls, I honestly have no sympathy for his whining fans on this one. Assuming their conspiracy theories (there's many but this one in particular) are true, the story is that the Paul campaign was playing dirty and the GOP played dirtier back. Your crocodile tears over "democracy" really just make your double standard all the more obvious. If you gave a shit about Democracy you wouldn't openly support a campaign that schemes to over-represent their candidate by gaming a particular format for assigning delegates. " |
That's complete troll hype. Where's the justification for those claims? You're just going to conveniently ignore the evidence that dozens of Maine caucuses were thrown out or misreported in Romneys favor? The whole of the Maine primary was clearly a crock and you're slinging mud at the Ron Paul campaign for going against a fraudulent format?

Quote : | "The whole of the Maine primary was clearly a crock and you're slinging mud at the Ron Paul campaign for going against a fraudulent format?" |
The fraudulent format is the caucusing system whereby a candidate who gets less than 10% of every single poll in the State can secure 37% of the vote. Polls don't have to be dead on, there's always a margin of error, but that kind of margin is pretty damn indicative of a system that is far from representative. Not to mention Paul's campaign is actively urging people to lie in order to become delegates themselves so they can later switch over to Paul. It's entirely disingenuous strategy on both sides (Many Paul fans even got free caucus tickets by mail) and I don't think even the most ardent Paul supporters believe he'd get anywhere near 37% in an actual primary vote.
When I say "game" the caucus system I mean focusing on caucus states such that the mobility of his supporters means he can garner delegates far out of proportion with his actual popularity. If Romney or any other candidates bussed in supporters or paid for their tickets you better believe the Paulites would be shitting their pants in righteous indignation, despite doing so being nothing more than "getting people who are legally allowed to vote to... vote."
Also burro shut the fuck up, since when do you actually want legal people to vote? You're more than happy to disenfranchise students, minorities, poor people, and anyone else who doesn't have an ID, and I'm sure you fucking hated ACORN and considered them dastardly for registering poor people to vote and helping them get to the polls.

Quote : | "Maine GOP recounting caucus votes By: Tim Mak February 16, 2012 02:48 PM EST
The Maine Republican Party, under fire from Ron Paul supporters for its mishandling of the state’s recent caucuses, is now re-canvassing counties and municipalities to recount vote totals.
POLITICO obtained an email from the State Republican Party asking local chairmen to send them the vote totals from their local straw polls.
“County Chairman & Town Chairman,” an email written by a state Republican Party staffer reads. “We are reconfirming the totals from the Presidential Preference Straw poll. Can you please EMAIL ME the totals from your towns. For County Chairman if you are emailing the total for your entire county can you please list the towns that are included.”
The letter was forwarded by a longtime Republican activist in Maine.
[u]The Maine Republican Party and its chairman, Charlie Webster, have been under attack in the last week for declaring Mitt Romney of the presidential straw poll in Maine when not all of the state’s caucuses have met to vote yet.[u]
On Saturday, Webster announced that Romney had won the presidential straw poll. Romney won the non-binding caucuses by just three points, 39 percent to Ron Paul’s 36 percent. Less than 200 votes separated the totals of Romney and second-place finisher Ron Paul.
Several localities were not included in the presidential straw poll, including Washington County, where the caucuses were cancelled for the reason of inclement weather. Others municipalities had local caucuses scheduled for after Webster’s announcement.
Washington County is expected to caucus this coming Saturday.
Webster told POLITICO on Saturday that although the Maine caucuses were scheduled for Feb. 4 to Feb. 11, he had no ability to tell local groups when to caucus. He estimated there are 505 municipalities in Maine, of which 420 have caucused. An additional 40 or so small municipalities will not hold a caucus at all, and the remaining would caucus after his announcement.
Ron Paul’s campaign called the exclusion of Washington County’s results “inexplicable” on election night.
“Paul performed well throughout the state, although his campaign’s stronghold of Washington County did not report today for inexplicable reasons,” according to a statement released by the campaign.
The campaign released a second, more scathing email to supporters later on that evening.
“In Washington County – where Ron Paul was incredibly strong – the caucus was delayed until next week just so the votes wouldn’t be reported by the national media today. That’s right. A prediction of 3-4 inches – that turned into nothing more than a dusting – was enough for a local GOP official to postpone the caucuses just so the results wouldn’t be reported tonight,” read the statement.
“Just the votes of Washington County would have been enough to put us over the top. This is an outrage. But our campaign is in this race to win, and will stay in it to the very end,” it continued.
It remains to be seen whether the results in Washington County would lean towards Paul’s favor. In addition, only 118 votes were cast in the county in 2008 - not enough to make up the difference between Romney and Paul if a similar number of voters showed up to caucus.
Neither state chair Charlie Webster nor the staffer who wrote the email immediately responded to a request for comment on Thursday." |
Another state GOP Chair will be resigning soon.

The constitution is being challenged hardcore right now. This is the final thread tying the constitution to America. There are two tests we are examining:
1) Can the democracy set up by the forefathers prevail over corruption in the election system when "the people" come together?
2) Can one president + the help of the people lead a movement to overthrow the corruption in washington by voting the corruption out of congress and restoring our constitutional freedom?
I made a thread a while back that said if Ron Paul gets elected (which he will), he will be assassinated just like the previous presidents who tried to stand in "their" way.

You do understand that most of his legislation doesn't pass because corporations spend billions ensuring that they wouldn't?
Yet you use that as a knock on Paul. If you don't support Paul you seriously have problems. Or a vested interest in keeping the elite in their place.

Do you understand that Paul knows they wont pass when he sponsors them? That he makes no effort whatsoever at sponsoring bills that might actually do anything? He's just another protest-voting podium-whore, he gathers followers by appealing to fantasies and ideology, not by actually changing anything. He doesn't compromise or negotiate or propose feasible paths of reform, or do any of the other things that make an actual Democracy work, just cling to ideology and talk about the way things should be.
It's the easiest job in the world, all he has to do is come into work, vote no on stuff, write wishlists that become dead-end bills, then make "Well if I were in charge..." speeches. He's a classic populist snake oil salesman and that is exactly what his "record" shows. For somebody who talks so much about the Constitution and Democracy, he's barely participated in the actually Democratic processes that drive change. I can't imagine anything he accomplish as President that couldn't be done by executive order, so his effective function would be little more than an extremely limited dictator-figurehead
