^ Heath Miller is not really a pass-catching tight end in Pittsburgh's offense, which is weird because he was one of the best coming out of UVA. I doubt you will get more than 1 or 2 points a week from him. Daniels is a good scoring option at TE.
Not a good trade for you in my opinion.

Why would you trade Calvin Johnson for Clinton Portis and downgrade your TEs?

A guy in my league has put Vincent Jackson and Greg Jennings on the block, says he needs RB.
I really like both these guys and want to go after Jackson. We start 2 RB, 2 WR, and a flex. At the moment I have the following:
RB: Willis McGahee, Cedric Benson, Darren McFadden, and the 3 Browns (Lewis, Harrison, Davis) WR: Jerricho Cotchery, Roddy White, Donald Driver
Ideally I'd like to offer him McGahee and Driver (2 overachievers in my mind) for both Jackson and Jennings. I assume he'd reject that offer, so I'd come back with McGahee for Jackson. Here are my questions though:
1) What are people's views on McGahee and Driver? Obviously they are probably playing at least a bit above their heads, but how much? 2) Even if I walk away from this trade a winner, it still puts me in a bit of a crappy spot at RB. I'd then be having to start McFadden, who hasn't shown anything this year. Would it be worth the trade? 3) Would it be a bad trade if I ended up trading both Driver and McGahee for either Jackson or Jennings?

Keep willis and Cedric benson....both will finish the season as top 15 RBs.
I love Vincent Jackson this year, but it's not worth it unless you can trade away your non-starters. You don't have anyone at RB that can start besides those two, as I consider McFadden a RB3/Flex usually....maybe a RB2....and you can pretty much get rid of the Browns squad...no clue why you'd have 3 browns RBs on one team. Even if one emerges.....it's the fucking Browns.
Maybe get rid of Driver and McFadden for Vincent, or some shit like that...if you can pull it off. But you'll be hurting if you get rid of Ced or Willis. 10/1/2009 4:02:30 PM |

due to injuries and bye weeks I need to decide between:
Pierre Garcon (Sea) or Johnny Knox (Det)

garcon. peyton is #2 qb in NFL, so garcon has good value.
thats why i am afraid of dropping anthony gonz. my nightmare scenario is i drop him, someone gets him, he takes the job back and has very good games in fantasy playoffs.
I dont have a TE this week. lesean mccoy and a.gonz are my most droppable players. 14 team league, so i dont want to drop good guys out there. 10/1/2009 8:12:50 PM |

^^ pretty even choice there. Knox could have a great game against a terrible DET defense. Cutler should be able to open it up and Knox could get alot of looks. Manning has more weapons against SEA so garcon may see limited touches (and SEA defense is better at the pass than the run). 10/1/2009 8:31:17 PM |

Quote : | "Patriots | Reiss speculates that Welker could be shut down around week 8 Wed Sep 30, 04:39 PM
Mike Reiss, of ESPNBoston.com, reports that he wouldn't be surprised if Patriots WR Wes Welker is "shut down" around the team's week 8 bye to have his knee "cleaned out". Reiss writes "My hunch is that he is dealing with some type of swelling in the knee, and the fact that it's happened so early in the season is troubling. It will not surprise me if there comes a point at which Welker is shut down -- maybe around the bye -- with the thinking to have the knee cleaned out so he has a chance to return to full health. This is all speculation on my part based on my feeling that that when a player is dealing with a knee injury and is a game-time decision in Weeks 2 and 3, it's usually not the type of situation that goes away on its own."" |
Sorry I should've waited till I was on my PC not my phone so I could type out more on that. Its just speculation, but at this point I'm anxious for any Welker news (I'm a Brady owner) and this is not the type I want to hear.10/1/2009 9:09:36 PM |

What do you think about his trade: give LT and get Steve Smith (panthers)
RBs: donald brown, choice, marshawn, mccoy, LT WRs: garcon, burleson, a.gonz, roddy white
can only start 2 of each. I figure I can rotate backs based on situation and get a good result every week.

^ MJD, Thomas, Grant. Dont expect Lynch to play often as its his first game back and the MIA Def is very good against the run.

The question I will be asking myself every week till I trade one of these two:
Matt Schaub vs Oakland Tom Brady vs Baltimore
Also, if anyone wants to chime in:
Pick 3 Steve Smith (NYG) @ KC Marques Colston v NYJ Chad Ochocinco @ Cle Mike Sims-Walker v Ten
Pick 2 Knowshon Moreno v Dal Glen Coffee v StL Willie Parker v SD Donald Brown v Sea
And pick 1 out of those for my flex 10/2/2009 9:30:37 AM |
wahoowa All American 3288 Posts user info edit post |
I like the Schaub matchup better than Brady this week. BAL has a very similar defense to the Jets and they shut him down and Welker is most likely out.
Pick 3: Colsten, Ocho, Sims-Walker
Pick 2: Coffee and Brown. I dont think Parker is going to be very effective with the turf toe (also didnt practice Thurs).
Flex: Steve Smith

Coffee, McFadden or Jackson for my 2nd RB spot in a PPR league ?

Cincy. I'm telling you guys that Denver's D is a trap.
They are pretty good, but they ARE NOT the #1 defense in football. Don't treat them as such.
Cleveland has not scored double digit points all year....and Cincy's D looked pretty stout against Pitt last week.
I'm starting Cincy for my bye week.
Also, i see people sleeping on Pierre Thomas this week. He's back and apparently healthy, and despite the tricky matchup is a good play this week. Mike Bell is out, and Bush is no longer a threat to his carries. And did you watch him run all over the place last week....in one half? The Jets D is scary good, but it's not like they can load the box or anything.
Schaub vs. Oak is an easy choice over Brady this week.

OK, I was offered a trade today.
I'd give up Vincent Jackson.
I'd get Fred Jackson & Carson Palmer.
My team (core positions): QB: Flacco RB: Jacobs, Parker, Tomlinson, C. Williams, and C. Taylor WR: S. Moss, Ward, Royal, Holt, D. Mason
I don't really want to get rid of Jackson, and I'd rather get rid of Moss personally, but what do you all think? Deal or no deal? 10/2/2009 12:14:16 PM |

Vincent Jackson at this point is a DO NOT TRADE.
He's going to be a top 10 reciever this year for sure, maybe even top 5....he's been a sleeping giant and is finally waking up and you want to trade him?
When looking at a trade, figure out why the person wants to trade. For example, in the above case he's trading Fred Jackson because he was awesome, but Lynch is coming, which means a committee. Everyone should be trying to trade Fred Jackson and selling high. So this guy is also trying to buy Vincent Jackson lowish....not many people talk about V. Jack but he's the #2 WR right now and shows no signs of slowing down. IMO he's the #1 WR so far, based on his consistency. Guys like that win you championships....
Oh, and final trade advice....if a guy has to give you two lower quality players to get your higher quality player...don't do it....in general. You want that elite talent and don't want to dilute your roster.
