^^agreed, not to bad at all. But let's be careful about getting excited about HS stats and credentials. I mean, I'd be pretty optimistic when I saw these:
6’ 2” 191 Completed 272 of 473 passes for 3,796 yards and 37 TDs as a senior 11-2 record in 2003 and its second straight conference championship Also rushed for 301 yards with five scores in his senior season 2003 CAP 6 Conference Player of the Year Second-team all-state and three-time all-conference selection Chosen to the 2003 East/West All-Star Game Ranks second in state history with 757 career completions and 1,330 attempts Third in state history with 9,899 passing yards and 104 touchdowns Punted 47 times for an average of 38.3 yards, with 12 inside the 20-yard line 29-9 record and won two conference championships in his three years

Nope, not bad at all, and I'm happy to have him. But I gotta think there's a reason that Taylor received scholarship offers from Clemson, ECU, UNC and us, and Leatham was only a preferred walk-on. But here's to him performing well and earning a scholarship in a year or two!8/23/2011 11:43:25 AM |

Quote : | "^^We've used one of the cheap HD antennas (~$15) very successfully at our tailgates. If you don't want to pony up for a generator, the easiest and cheapest option would be a power inverter for your car's cig lighter. The downside is you'll have to remember to crank your vehicle at regular intervals and let it run for a few minutes to maintain enough juice to start your car to go home." |
I was thinking of doing that... and making sure to have jumper cables as well. But I was worried with a bigger TV it would just drain the battery super fast and be more of a pain then anything. Maybe not. Has anyone tried using one of those portable power inverters they make?
Something like this : http://www.emerusa.com/duracellpowerpack600852-2007portablepowerpack.aspx
Quote : | "Buy a marine battery for ~$100 from Walmart. They will last ~5 hours" |
Thought about that as well but then I have to also buy a charger for it too right? I don't know shit about this so just trying to figure out the easiest way to do it without spending to much but don't mind spending to some extent if it means our tailgate will be better than last year which was 6 dudes sitting on 2 coolers eating bojangles.

i use a 100amp hour 12v marine or (deep cycle) battery connected to a pure-sine-watt (1000w) inverter and connect it to my 40" lcd to watch at tailgates. lasts 3 or 4 hours even if i hook up my ps3 and a few other low wattage devices.
battery =$100 inverter = $150
expensive? kind of. but good investments to have around. i recharge the marine battery during the week with a 50w/12v solar panel. but you can also just wire it up to something else to charge just as easily. 8/23/2011 1:35:58 PM |

I was talking about a $15 inverter like this one:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bravo-View-250-Power-Inverter-with-USB-Port/15529721
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bravo-View-150-Watt-Lighter-Inverter/9729856
Apparently those have low car battery alarms and auto-shutdowns. As mentioned before, bring jumper cables and see how long you can go. Power consumption will depend upon the type of TV. What's the worst that could happen, right? 8/23/2011 1:39:30 PM |

Heres what I use. 400W, cheap if you get an ebay refurb. Has the low bat alarm, so I just hook it up to my truck battery and crank periodically.
I run a 20" LCD and this antenna:

Speaking of Tyler Brosius (N&O)
Quote : | "Wolfpack has Plan B for QB jp.giglio@newsobserver.com
With Mike Glennon's move to starter, N.C. State needs a new Plan B at quarterback.
Redshirt freshman Tyler Brosius and senior walk-on Daniel Imhoff are the top options to back up Glennon.
Just as there are questions about Glennon as a first-time starter, there are questions about how Brosius, the presumptive backup, would handle an overhauled offense. The past two seasons, with Russell Wilson as the starter, there was a sense among Wolfpack players and fans that Glennon would be able to step in and perform.
Brosius, who was a highly productive player at Tuscola High in Waynesville, has the confidence of his teammates. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 233 pounds, he has impressed his teammates with his arm strength.
"He could definitely step in there and do a good job," senior tight end George Bryan said.
"He has a big arm," Glennon said.
"He's got a cannon, actually," Bryan said.
Brosius, who also was a baseball standout at Tuscola, certainly threw the ball a lot in high school. He passed for more than 3,400 yards with 34 touchdowns as a senior and 2,400 yards with 27 touchdowns as a junior.
He originally committed to Virginia, before his final high school season in 2009, but he signed with N.C. State after the Cavaliers made a coaching change. Maryland, Pittsburgh and Central Florida were among the other top-level Division I programs who recruited him.
Brosius admits the biggest adjustment last season, his first on campus, was learning Dana Bible's offense.
"At first it was really overwhelming," Brosius said. "It has kind of slowed down for me."
Imhoff, a walk-on from Lee County, has more experience in his third year in the program and has a better grasp of the playbook than Brosius. Imhoff, who stands 6 feet tall and weighs 202 pounds, has played in four games the past two seasons, completing two of three passes for 14 yards. He also graduated in May.
Brosius doesn't have any college experience, but he was 11-for-17 with 95 yards and a touchdown in the spring game.
Bible and coach Tom O'Brien have had a pattern of developing quarterbacks at Boston College, and Brosius appears to be on track to be groomed as Glennon's successor. Not that O'Brien is saying much about him.
"Right now, he's getting most of the snaps at backup," O'Brien said during the team's media day this month. "When we put a depth chart together, we'll have a Plan B."
For his part, Brosius has been preparing as if he's one play away from getting on the field.
"Hopefully, I can show people if I get the chance," Brosius said. "I've got Mike's back and he's got mine."
Glennon, who redshirted in 2008 and backed up Wilson the past two seasons, said Brosius has made progress in camp.
After waiting three years to start, Glennon has no plans on missing any time, but he does have faith in Brosius if anything happens.
"He is really talented," Glennon said. "It's a matter of getting used to the system and understanding what we're trying to do." " |

it's both funny and encouraging that glennon, who has yet to start a game, seems comfortable talking about teammates making progress, like he knows he knows the system better than they do. i guess at this point he is the starting quarterback, and he's acting like it. 8/24/2011 4:17:25 PM |
ltownking All American 1084 Posts user info edit post |
^It is encouraging and yes he will know and does know the system. I think the only questions that matter are.... 1. Can he transfer his talent to the field as a starter? 2. Will we provide recievers that will catch the ball? 3. Can the line block for a pocket passer?
And I do not think that will be resolved until after the WF game.
