AC Moore has coupons for framing and mounting all the time it seems like.

Good idea. I called Jerry's Art supply, and they said $120. AC Moore is $150 after the 60% off coupon, and Michaels would not give me an cost estimate over the phone. There's one place at the Fairgrounds that does framing for a good price that I may contact next week, but I haven't been able to find their phone number online. I don't particularly want to drive to the fair for framing needs, when the actual fair is going on... I wonder how difficult it would be for me to just do it myself?

I was pretty much just going to make a cheapo "frame" by making a rectangle out of scrap wood and stapling the canvas to it. Maybe finishing the edge with a ribbon or something. If I actually wanted to hang it up somewhere, that is. We haven't even done ours yet though.

are you going to tell people what it is when they ask? i don't know that i would tell anyone what it was if we had it.

If you do it yourself, make sure you get the canvas stretching tool for when you staple it to the frame.. I'm sure Jerry's has one

But, they're relatively easy to make. My friend and I made our own canvas in high school.. wasn't a big deal

[Edited on October 9, 2011 at 7:49 PM. Reason : ^ I, too, was wondering this.. and now I kind of want to get a kit.]

I used to make them in high school and never had a canvas stretching tool. But I am not sure if I'd honestly want to put it up anyway, so it might be a moot point.

And I don't mind telling most people if they actually ask. Like if they just ask where I got it and I say I made it and they stop asking, I'll stop telling them about it. But if they ask for details they'll get the truth. I don't really care. Unless it's my parents

If they ask, then we'll tell them we made it. Most people will stop after that point. I don't foresee us telling anyone how we made it, unless they really wanted to know.

I am giving up on finding a pair of boots! It's so freaking frustrating! my calves are too big for normal boots and they are too skinny for the wide calves!

I just want a pair of boots with a 15 1/2" calf circumference, a rounded toe box, in brown, that's NOT sloughy!! why is that so hard??

i recently got a new hp printer and now i get these emails from there. well today's email caught my eye. they had the cutest halloween projects!!

http://www.hp.com/hho/hp_create/

thats the link for the creative studio but if you go the themes & occasions tabs you can look up the halloween stuff

they have masks, invitations, decorations and all kinds of stuff you can print out. some of it opens in a pdf file so you don't even need an hp printer to do it. some of them that are more customizable they want you to use their web application to print it out

here is the direct link to the halloween projects

http://h71036.www7.hp.com/hho/us/en/ep/articles/halloween-countdown.html?hhosnl=hpn_2187%7C1263687%7CF4E151F0688D981F%7C62AF4183ECD2205D2697A459E59D6B98

they have tons of other stuff on there, baby, wedding, party, congrats, printable cards etc

and it's all free!

also i'm a couponer and the krazycouponlady blog yesterday posted a how to for a halloween party under $50. it's obvi targeted to kids but you could take some of the ideas and implement them into an adult party

http://thekrazycouponlady.com/2011/10/10/halloween-party-ideas-plan-your-party-for-under-50/

i love crafty and do it yourself type stuff just wanted to share in the excitement

oh yeah they also have printable masks on the hp website so if you need a last minute costume or just something token for work or whatever, you could do that too!

^^ AH LOVE IT! of course i love anything Halloweenish.

So I measured my calves yesterday to see about boots. there is a 1 inch difference between my right and left calf. That is why i can wear normal ones on my right and then the other not fit.

ugh i get this too

im not positive what it is but sometimes its way worse than others and sometimes my head actually bleeds

i have a variety of other medical issues i am currently going through (nothing serious but annoying stuff like vit d, bone density and cholesterol, rosacea etc)

but i do plan to ask my dermatologist about it next time i go in and i talked to a friend yesterday who described the same thing and we're going to look at each others scalps (gross right? we're close) to see if it's the same thing

My scalp gets itchy if I have product build up. I use a good cleansing shampoo weekly and that helps.

just wanted to say that it hasn't even been an entire week and my face is SO much better. so thanks for the tips ladies.

the clinique gel moisturizer and switching from an apricot scrub to cetaphil did wonders for the dryness. switching from cheapo makeup to bare minerals stopped the breakouts

face = happy

and if anyone has redness issues, the bare minerals redness therapy powder stuff actually works (i bought it with no real expectations of it working). My uneven skin tone is now better now than it was prior to my skin going crazy red and blotchy.

wow ^ great info.

I use Clinique even better tinted moisturizer and philosophy face cleanser- it doesn't seem to do the trick. I might try that bare minerals y'all are talking about.

that mineral stuff isn't great for your skin

it will dry you out like no other over time

just an fyi

I had to stop using it, and my skin gets really oily by the end of the day...with that it was flaky and gross

your cleanser routine could be what's helping that out

those minerals just suck the moisture out your skin

I used it for a few months and had to switch

so basically i have a few months to find something else to use for when the minerals make my skin angry and i was so excited i found something that didn't break me out

i guess i could just go back to my old concealer/powder routine just with higher quality products

I've never had the drying out problem with mineral foundation, and I've been using it for about 3 years, with a couple of short stretches of the cheap stuff. As long as you have a decent moisturizer, such as the bareMinerals one I suggested earlier, and no harsh cleansers, you should be fine.

hopefully that will be my case. My current skin regime is as gentle as it gets I think. I really like how easy/fast bare minerals are to apply. and it even stays on (mostly) when i have to wear my respirator all the time at work
