Are job applicants being advised now to write as long of a resume as possible?

What happened to a single page? Jesus im reviewing applications for a position at work and every resume is 2 pages or more. I have one that is 4 fucking pages solid.

Already went through a round of interviews and no one was good enough, because despite some of these long resumes they didnt highlight anything in te interviews

so frustrating...it seems like the trend is now two pages+

^^^could you two not coordinate and maybe make a meal you both could eat? you get many more options when cooking for more than one person... I didn't really have this problem with almost all my roommates as everyone I had would rather just order in or go out to eat

If they have ten plus years of relevant experience I could understand it. Less than that they don't know how to write a resume.

Just rip off the rest and judge them based on the first page alone. That's what we do. If you have more than 1 page you either 1. Can't follow the rules of resume writing and we don't want you or 2. Have enough experience to spill over 2 pages, but what you have on the first page would likely be enough to sell us anyways. These are resumes, not CVs, learn how to create one!

Not even a possibility. I've never done the collective coooking with ANY of my roommates. We have either all had different tastes, never had same schedules (which is the most common issue), or the roommate can't cook. My current roommate can't cook a thing. She eats Lean Cuisines and some frozen dinners from nasty Trader Joes. When she does cook, it's a quiche (sp?) or pan-frying a veggie burger.

I come from a househould that can cook so I just cook my own stuff when I have the time.
