Broken Steel and Point Lookout are the best. The Pitt is pretty good. Operation Anchorage and Mothership Zeta you can pass on unless you really want them. 1/12/2010 11:26:48 AM |

^agreed. I'd wait to play Point Lookout until you're at least 20 though, because the Swamp Ghoul Reavers and the Swampfolk hit really hard. but it's an awesome DLC. the double barrel shotgun does 100 damage a pop at 100% condition.
Broken Steel is worth it alone for the new level cap. it's nice to have finished the main quest and still be able to wander around. 1/12/2010 12:28:15 PM |

Mothership Zeta and Operation Anchorage has stuff you get from them that make the game feel complete. Like more Alien Blaster ammo and being able to repair it with the Alien Epoxy and in Operation Anchorage you get some bad ass Chinese stealth armor and some even MORE bad ass winterized armor. While they are the 'worst' of the 5, they were much fun to me. I would say get them or you will never know what the the 'complete' Fallout 3 experience feels like. Just buy the GOTY edition if you are a newcomer to Fallout 3 and if you already have F3 buy all five! 1/12/2010 6:17:01 PM |

I like the Reilly Ranger Armor the best (+10 Small guns, +1 Luck, +5 Action points, 39 damage resistance, canbe repaired with any combat armor). Although the armor from OA has 10 million hp and the helmet has 1 million hp so its virtually indestructible.

Lately I've been using the Enclave Hellfire Armor...just as good of damage resistance as any other armor, +1 strength, fire resistance, etc 1/13/2010 2:55:09 PM |

Just ordered this for ps3 (Amazon has it for 17 buckaroos)
Give me an idea of how to best level up and what areas to focus on. I have never played a Fallout game before 2/9/2010 3:18:01 PM |

^^I hadn't either before Fallout 3
For your first playthrough I would give your guy high intelligence and focus a good bit of your points upgrading your Small Arms stat, as that helps with rifles, pistols, etc
The higher intelligence rating means your stats go up a little more each time you level up
Small Arms is just the most useful perk throughout the game, at least until you start unlocking heavy weapons and energy weapons
And if you have a half hour to kill, scan through this thread for advice] 2/9/2010 3:20:42 PM |

One of the five packages of DLC. Only 2 are vital, imo. Broken Steel and Point Lookout. Broken Steel is huge for two factors: Maxium level up goes from level 20 to level 30, and you can keep playing after completing the main quest.
Point Lookout is great strictly for making a very easy game a little bit harder.
The GOTY edition includes all 5 DLC.

So I have been playing and I got pretty frustrated the other day. I just go to Megaton and I ended up trying to pickpocket someone... Got caught and the whole town came after me. I did not stand a chance - kept getting killed within 10 seconds.... and the game just kept respawning me into the middle of it all. I ended up using every item I had that seemed to give health and ran out of there after multiple attempts. The only option to load the game somewhere else was to start back at the vault... and I had done a lot of roaming and collecting after that. WTF

I am playing it on my PC now, and the graphical upgrade has made the game more interesting. Although I have no DLC for it yet, probably get at least the DLC pack with Broken Steel and Point Lookout off of eBay or somewhere else online for cheap. 2/17/2010 4:18:09 PM |

I have installed a few mods for F3 and I gotta tell you I don't think I'll ever buy another RPG for a console again. Its just too much fun to be had with a game that has a ginormous modding community. http://fallout3nexus.com Its like I have a brand new interest in the game now. 2/28/2010 8:03:55 PM |

2.4ghz Quad AMD 8gb Ram NVIDIA 9500gs 512gb 19inch HD monitor
I can run it on Ultra but its slightly laggy (my lame Video card but I'll replace it before New Vegas gets here) but playable, but I run it on High and it really doesn't looks that much different, just the draw distance is really only noticeable (though not bad at all) and its not an issue at all. 2/28/2010 10:14:49 PM |

But I'm assuming its still better than console, right? (graphics)
I've got the 9600M GT 512mb and 4gb of ram so if its a big difference between console vs. PC i'll definitely pick it up for PC since I have more chances to play on my laptop then I do on my console. :-/ 2/28/2010 10:28:28 PM |

Yeah it renders much better on the PC.
Mods I recommend:
Tenpenny Radio - unfinished radio station by Bethesda that unlocked with this mod and plays some some funky jazz
Alexa - NPC placed in Craterside Supply and can repair 100%
999 weight limit
Bobblehead quest - adds quest to find all bobbleheads
There are other ones I am going to install whenever I feel like it like CODMW2 camo skin for the pipboy, and Classic Fallout weapons for example. Its baller so probably going to do that right now.
Also learn console commands to add perks, caps, ammo, etc... I have beat the game 4 times so I deserve to do what I want! 2/28/2010 10:52:28 PM |

If you are only going to get 1 get Broken Steel obviously. If you are going to get two of the DLCs get BS and Point Lookout. I personally liked them all and they all have something to offer unique to the game. 3/16/2010 10:57:49 AM |

I miss this game. Really hoping we see FO4 in 2015. 1998->2008->20..?
And yeah, I know there was New Vegas and I loved New Vegas, but that was more of a spinoff than part of the story that FO3 was carrying. 12/26/2014 10:51:00 PM |

I broke into where that old dude was in his life support machine way too early and killed him and I think it caused havoc with my questline in New Vegas. Then I somehow deleted all my saves and didn't start over. 1/23/2015 6:48:17 PM |
