As far as the finales of this show...they rank
2 4 3 1
this was way better than last seasons finale...essentially it was last season's finale with all the answers last season's finale didn't show...and the worst part of it all was that none of the episodes of season 4, except for the finale, had anything to do with the questions that were brought up between the 2 finales...except probably kate having to go back to aaron when she was arguing with jack 5/30/2008 12:12:15 AM |

screw that this was the worst finale ever. there was no cliffhanger just a dang lockes dead ok cool move on whats next?
all the other finales left you in a "OMG OMG OMG WTF DOES THAT MEAN I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT SEASON" mode
finale rankings
3"we have to go back kate"-after the amazing episode good vibrations knife in the back hurleymobile the unprecedented flash-forward best episode ever
1"just give us the boy"- they have opened the hatch labeled "quarantine"
2- the hatch has blown up sky turned purple, others are actually sophisticated what will they do with our main characters?
4-island is moved locke is dead what else?
also i'd like to remind everyone that sayid will be killing penlope next season. He will use desmond to get close to her and possibly kill her with desmond walking in on it. 5/30/2008 12:49:38 AM |

Meh it was so expected though. It would have been better if it was revealed he was in the casket long before they were all going around saying locke came and visited them. I mean who else could the person have been? 5/30/2008 6:26:26 AM |

I don't think that Sayid is gonna kill Penelope. The reason he is killing people now is because (as far as he knows) they are all related to Widmore trying to get back to the island. Sayid knows that Penelope is one of the good guys. She wasn't trying to find the island to exploit it, she was just trying to find Desmond. I'm assuming that now that she has found him, she's not gonna be looking for the island.
Now Ben will probably try and get Sayid to kill Penelope but I'm thinking he will realize what Ben has done to him.
Oh yeah and the whispering doesn't necessarily ALWAYS precede danger... in the episode where Rousseau captured Sayid, he heard the whispering when he was escaping and nothing happened to him. And I think Sawyer heard it shortly afterwards.

When Locke supposedly visited Kate, I wonder if he gives that Dali Lama type test to Aaron like Richard gave to him at a young age. If Locke is out in the real world, wouldn't he have to of moved the island again and there would need to be a new leader of the Others. 5/30/2008 10:43:37 AM |

^yeah, i was going to say that the island has moved twice now since locke got off
he probably didn't give the test though since that was richard's thing and richard doesn't get old
and i bet when he told jack that everything went downhill b/c jack left, that what he meant was a he was a fuck up as a leader...as always...

actually...the whole part about getting everybody back to the island is the WTF moment...how the hell are they going to pull that off? and does that mean desmond has to go back too? probably

Oh yeah so in the orientation video, when the guy was explaining the little room where the time travel occurs, he said that it was built near various "exotic" material. I guess he was referencing whatever the mechanism is that Ben went down to in order to move the island... but the way he described it made it sound like it had more significance than that. It better not be aliens.
And since Jack & company have to bring dead Locke back to the island, I'm hoping that Season 5 ends up like the Weekend at Bernie's movies.
I just looked up the phone call that Kate got... played in reverse it says "The island needs you. You have to go back before it's too late"

I thought he said "pockets of exotic matter". So I'm thinking it's not the mechanism which Ben turned, but the forces he unleashed by turning the wheel.

I don't think either of the "alternate" endings were supposed to be actual considerations. They were probably just to throw off the cast/crew/people who would leak info to the internet.

So everything is always backwards right? Backwards talking, the instructional video rewound itself, they have to go back to the island.
Sounds weird, but now Jack is supposed to go back to the island with a casket again. What if he had to relive everything and change the outcome, only this time, he knows what everyone is going to do (much like Desmond did) and instead of his father in the casket, it's Locke. Granted he may not crash on a plane again or what have you, but something along the lines of having to relive it again (maybe in reverse, who knows). The whole reverse/backwards shit kills me on how it is going to tie in. 5/30/2008 1:47:27 PM |
Ernie All American 45943 Posts user info edit post |
Another thing about getting "back" to the island: Ben told Locke that by moving the island, he could never come back. So he seemingly knows where it was moved (in time/space/whatever) and has the means to get the Jack, Kate, et al. back. I have a feeling next season we'll learn a lot about Ben, thereby learning a lot about Jacob, Abbadon, and Richard. 5/30/2008 1:55:27 PM |
bjwilli2 Veteran 405 Posts user info edit post |
I don't think Ben knows where the island is currently, either (remember his conversation with Widmore in the penthouse, something about the hunt being on for Penny and the Island), but he believes that if he can get everyone together, they can all find the island again.
As for what the island is, I'm sure we'll get some answers in seasons 5 and 6, but it's possible we might be left at the end with a less than 100% explanation. I think much of the island is still a mystery to everyone, and it would be silly to try to explain everything about something that obviously no one completely understands. They might even end it with some sort of "we don't know who built it, we just found it" sort of thing.
I'm fairly certain we'll get the complete backstory on Ben, Dharma, Widmore, etc. though. But they're going to leave some amount of mystery about the island. 5/30/2008 3:08:55 PM |

i didn't read this whole page so someone probably already brought this up; i was just sick of the "this is the worst finale ever" argument. ok, so there was no dramatic cliff hanger like last season BUT locke is DEAD. durrr....why did he die? if he lived on the island he wouldn't die. why was he off the island anyway? what bad stuff happened after jack left? i mean no the ending wasn't super dramatic but there are still a million questions. i'm still looking forward to next season 5/30/2008 4:27:39 PM |

I haven't seen anyone mention Locke's deer hunting experience on the weed farm. After his dad screwed him out of a kidney and before he got thrown out of a window, he had plenty of time to keep hunting and working within the outdoors.

I mean come on, Michael was a shitty character. For an entire season we heard nothing but "Man! They took my SON!!" Boo Hoo, your character's lines sucked and your character was too frequently playing the race card.
Looking at some of his quotes, doesn't really seem like the attitude of his character is too far off of that of himself.

something that bothered me a bit in the past couple weeks is how Sun gained a controlling interest in Piak Industries. We have the impression that Piak is a very large auto company, probably worth billions of $. And Sun comes in and buys 51% of it with her "very large" Oceanic settlement? I mean, i'm sure Oceanic was generous, but unlikely to be 100s of millions or billions for each survivor. not a big deal, though.... 6/1/2008 12:45:54 PM |
