The PD failed to gather enough evidence that he comitted the murder, and yet brought charges against him anyway. The case should have been thrown out before ever going to trial but wasn't. There is a chance the defendant will be found guilty of murder on what amounts to circumstancial evidence. This is NOT how the system is supposed to work. Should he be found not guilty this asshole will be looking for heads to roll, the detectives, the DA, and the judge.

Think about this in comparison to Michael Peterson or OJ Simpson's trials, where there was actual evidence found. I don't like to speculate but it is almost like the PD and DA rushed into the process hoping he would plead guilty.

yeah, if you don't have evidence, don't try and "will" it along... if you have evidence, good- go after him. But say he didn't do it- now his name is sullied, and he had to deal with all this while still grieving.

*note: I don't think he didn't do it- but there is no evidence that he did do it either, and in America, it is innocent until proven guilty- burden of proof is on the state, and without it, they should have kept looking until they got something.

Then there's a morning break.
Then a ~1.5-hour lunch.
Then an afternoon break.
They rarely go past 5pm.

People wonder why this trial will go on so long.

On the other hand, the seats are uncomfortable, and regular breaks allow people to use the restroom without stopping the trial for one person.
