What are the chances that HockeyRoman will piss someone on this thread off before the end of the game tonight?

^ Stop your whore jinxy mouth! Not even I want that against the Canes. But getting it at home would be nice.

But if Zach scores I can not promise that I will be able to contain my excitement/bragging thus likely "pissing someone off".

I am just pissed that I can't watch the game and am relegated to having to listen to Sherry Ross' goofy ass.

Toronto up 2-0 on NY Islanders. Toronto is on the way up, ny could contend with us for the top pick though

Yeah, I guess the Canes would look pretty silly getting shut out by the Devils twice in one season.

Anyone else going to the Washington game Friday? It will be my first away game, and I am pretty excited, even with Ovie playing a full game. Has anyone been to the Verizon Center before? If so, is there anywhere to tailgate before the game or should we just give up and find the closest sports bar before gametime. I want to be good and drunk before this one.

It's in the middle of Washington, DC. Definitely nowhere to tailgate. There are a bunch of bars and restaurants (chains mostly) around the Verizon Center in Chinatown, but in my experience it is a madhouse there before games, and you can't get in anywhere. Might want to find somewhere a few blocks away or on the metro if you are looking to eat, but if you want to just drink there are some bars you can squeeze into. The Chinatown metro stop is literally directly under Verizon Center, so it's easy to get there.

I would recommend making the trip to Nashville sometime to see a Canes/Preds game. The downtown nightlife is pretty awesome, especially on the weekend and the Preds fans have a very unique hockey culture that I was surprised to see from a town that I first assumed were just a bunch of hicks.

This season has been an utter disappointment, but the positives out of the whole thing is that we likely will get a top pick to go with a core of Ward, Staal, Jokinen, Rutuu, Pitkanen, Gleason and Sutter. We'll also be clearing a TON of money off the books before next year and we'll be able to hit FA hard and then we have a lot of offensive/defensive prospects that will be ready next year. We should be a lightning fast team next year and show a dramatic turnaround. In reference to the game tonight though.......shoot the damn puck Cole........

Somewhere I have a tape of FSC cutting away from me really fast in Atlanta because I was counting goals on my fingers to some douche five rows down and they thought I was flipping off the camera...Forslund's reaction was priceless. In news of the bizarre, Jeff O'Neill had a hattie that night.

That was my big worry resigning Cole. I think in the coming years with this team getting younger then his speed and veteran leadership will be an asset, but the guy simply can never stay healthy. I thought Larose was going to have another very solid season, but he just has not been any good this year. At times he doesn't even seem to be hustling as much as he always had...........

We're only committed to them for another year, thankfully. I'm pretty pumped to see what Tlusty will do with big minutes. Dwyer has been solid here before, but I want to see what some of the other AHL guys can do. Roll out a garbage ass 4th line with Brindy and whoever else, and call up a Boychuk/Bowman/Samson for a couple games. What the hell do we have to lose at this point?

We shouldn't be this far onto page 29 without a TKO picture.

Someone has to teach the kids how to drop the shoulder, power down the wing with speed, and then either fall over or lose the puck.

^and be the 6th leading scorer in Hurricanes History?

I'd rather see Cole do his move than watch us dump the puck in, chase, and loose it.

maybe he's the 6th leading scorer thanks largely to that one good year, and he's 7th in all-time games played for the Canes, and 5th among forwards. Yeah, hell of a player, that Erik Cole.

You could say that about anyone left over from that year. Everyone has pretty much underachieved based on that. Cole can be frustrating to watch, but I don't know how you can deny his value to the team.

he has what, 8 points in 20 games this year? he skates hard every 4th shift, has 2 moves (that one handed drag shit that NEVER works, and now he's added separating himself from the puck @ the blue line), is a "power forward" who won't go to the front of the net.... need i go on?

How dare you!!! Watching Cole play hockey as a man has to be like watching Oksana Baiul as a woman!!!

In other news, I think he just fell going into the produce section at Harris Teeter. Someone should have told him that you can't put all your weight on those carts, they will roll out from in front of you.
