GG to the Cubs. Made this weekend less stressful. Looks like the Braves will not have to face Halladay or Oswalt and may only see Hamels for a few innings. No reason we should not win at least two of these games and take the wild card.

Saw this quote on the AJC from Wagner:

Quote :
"Let’s battle and get two wins, no matter what it takes,” Braves closer Billy Wagner, who has three regular-season games left in his career as well, before retiring at the end of the season. “What you’ve got to do is suck it up, and you die out there for two wins.”"

Billy Wagner: HE WILL DIE FOR OUR WINS!

^ Teams from the same division cannot play each other in the 1st round regardless of record. It is a good rule IMO.

i kinda hope they don't do it tonight. they'd just be waiting around for the padres-gnats game to end, seems boring. it'd be a lot better if they win tomorrow and get to celebrate on the field.

WC teams celebrate too right?

[Edited on October 1, 2010 at 11:43 AM. Reason : i mean if i was a player, i'd like to celebrate on the field.]

Beachy is pitching tonight so it will be interesting to see how much better than Phillies do since this will be the 2nd time they've faced him in the past 1.5 weeks. I just hope the Braves come into this series with the mindset that they need to sweep the Phillies and roll into the playoffs on a 6 game winning streak. Plus beating the Phils this weekend would get their mojo back against that team even if they don't face the big three. Not sure if JJ is going to go on Sat.

Very happy the Braves made it in. Had they lost today and Padres won, it would have gone down as possibly the worst sports weekend in history for me (Pack lost, UNC killed ECU, Georgia lost to Colorado, Braves). Anyway thank God the Braves pulled out the game today. Man I hate the Phillies, let's go Reds.

This matchup versus the Giants will be tough. Braves have got to find a way to score more than 1-2 runs a game. The Giants do not have a great offense, but they have been hitting better of late and they have guys like Uribe and Huff who are always tough outs. I'll be shocked if the Braves can even push this series to 4 games because I think the Braves are spent, but I'll be hoping for a miracle. Maybe Hudson/Hanson or Lowe can go Schilling/Johnson and lead the team to a WS.

FUCK YEAH! Yet again we show our resiliency and let Bobby have one more shot at glory. I think we have a decent shot at making the NLCS if our offense can look more like it did today, b/c our pitching definitely matches up well with SF. If we can win the first round, hope to God the reds pull off an upset of the phils otherwise we will be swept.

Yeah the Braves have played fairly well against the Lincecum and Cain. If they can come out of those 2 games 1-1 then I think it will be the Braves series to lose. They have gotten to Sanchez early the two times they have faced him this year (7 runs in 8 1/3 innings) and it looks like we will start Huddy against him in game 3.

For Game 1:
Lowe has let up 3 runs vs the Giants this year in 11 innings vs the Giants this year, and Lincecum has let up 5 runs in 13 1/3 innings vs the Braves this year. Looks like a toss up, but Lowe has been lights out the last couple of starts.

^ That post makes my brain hurt.

Basically it will all come down to game one. Win that game and you set yourself up to win the series. Playing a 5 game series following a 162 game season is just stupid. Anyway Lowe has been great of late and his sinker should help him against a basically slow Giants lineup (i.e. double plays). Braves have got to eliminate all of the errors. That shit almost lost the game yesterday.

Lincecum is only going to make 2 or 3 mistakes, the Braves have to capitalize when they can. The Giants pen is tough and the Braves need to make those guys work like the Padres did. Cain has not been pitching well and they Braves need the "good" Tommy Hanson for Game 2.

Either way I still expect the Braves to flame out in 4 games as they are such a horrible team on the road. They'll lose games 1 and 2, win game 3 thanks to a favorable pitching matchup, then lose game 4.

"cain has not been pitching well"

Cains last 10 starts- allowed more than 3 earned runs twice
Cains last 4 starts- 3.07 ERA
