I swear I keep hitting bugs in this game.

I just did a quest for Jzargo where I tested his scrolls, killed the 3 undead and I can't turn it in to him.

" I like how Morrowind did their epic quest chains, especially with having to visit several branches of the Mages/Fighters Guilds across the world and complete dozens of quests, qualify for several ranks by tasks and skill level before even being able to start the final guild master quest. I mean, I just became the Arch Mage of the Mage's College and I can barely muster up enough mana to cast Incinerate, and most of my spells are Novice or Adept level "

Yes the College of Mages questline was very disappointingly short.

"Also, aside from using potions to increase enchanting, then enchanting +alchemy items, etc, I feel like the huge quantity of potions in the dungeons has really made Alchemy obsolete as a skill. I can craft Restore Health pots for 24 HP all day, but they're all worthless when compared to the dozens of +75, +150, +Completeheal pots I find scattered around a bear cave.

"

I agree. I think this was partially an over-reaction to Oblivion where health and mana potions were annoyingly scarce; including the ingredients to make them.

i wonder how much harder the game would be on settings more difficult than the default (adept?)...

my biggest disappointment with skyrim has been how easy it is...i realize i COULD change the difficulty level, but i haven't bothered because i always forget until i finish something that was disappointingly simple

before making it to alduin, i kept expecting to get my ass handed to me by something wicked, but it never happened...shoot, tsun was the hardest part of it

Final fight was meh.

Let me tell you guys something.

Mage = suck.

Why?

Basically, you end up using your 2nd teir spells with two handed casting (because of dmg per mana). Get the two handed casting stagger perk. At the higher levels this means you sit there and just lighting bolt, lighting bolt, lighting bolt, lighting bolt, lighting bolt, lighting bolt, lighting bolt, lighting bolt......dead. And unless you have 3 things coming at you you never get hit (light armor is 41 at lvl 39. Of course I have been wearing a mages chest peice now that I think about it. It isnt light armor......). They just stand in one spot continuously getting staggered until they die. Unless you have little mana.

Same thing goes for anything large. You dont get to see much in the way of real fighting. Because you dont let anything get near you.

I chose not to be a battle mage (armored mage) and I didnt have a lot of armor.

I am lvl 39, Ive finished the mage guild, thieves guild, beat the main quest. Have full set of light dragon armor. but I dont wear half of it because the in game items are so much better for mana/regen buffs. Enchanting is at 93. I am hoping that at 100 I will be able to enchant my dragon armor enough that I can use it instead of the arch mages robes and the destruction mask.

Not sure what the game would be like when you actually let things get close enough to hit you.

well, you could play your mage differently without using Impact,

but yeah, I mostly agree with you. Use impact to keep your opponent stunned and conjure a bunch of shit to take him out.

I mean, I went with destruction dark elf.

I never thought about using anything other than pure dmg because

1. It works well
2. Conjuring things seems to take more mana than its worth. (I probably dont have any perks in it )

Has anyone gone heavily into illusion, alteration, conjuration or restoration?

It just seems that pure destruction is rather straight forward and to the point....

^ instead of a "real" companion, i just have a fire atronach hang out with me all the time

i get whatever the dual-wield restoration perk is (or however it's set up)...between that and the dual destruction perks like impact, i have little trouble killing things...it doesn't help that they frequently just stand there and let me destroy them, though

i have virtually no armor, so i'm easy to kill

Was there ever any intention of being able to completely sneak through levels? To try and not fight? Or is it mainly about using sneak to get that first big blow as an advantage

This brings up another point. I have beaten the game.

Enemies encountered.

Draugr, spiders, dragons, Fallen. repeat

I mean, maybe there is something I am missing. But the only things in any dungeon are going to be completely predictable. I get the feeling there are some hidden areas with something more interesting.

Ok, another quest......lets see.....oh....clearing a dungeon....well I know exactly what I will fight.....again.

Maybe the scope of a sand box game like this limits the resources available to go much further in the enemy depth department. Or should the main quest dipped farther into whats available in other areas of skyrim?

Is it just me?

I like when the music changes and I hear a few wolves growling, and right before they attack me I do the Shout that calls nearby animals to fight for you, so they just kind of stop their charge and look around, confused

speaking of which, anybody know if you attack a Giant, then do the animal Shout spell, if the nearby Mammoths will attack the Giant?

^That was a pain. They don't grow back, so you have to find 30 locations. I have no idea how many are down there to begin with so you also have to be careful about eating/selling/using them. I didn't feel the reward was worth the effort and time it took.

Reward:
You get a book that doesn't raise a skill
You get a bonus 25% chance to create two potions instead of one when mixing... but potions are everywhere in this game and if I start mixing potions I end up with waaaaaay too many already.

i think you also should switch companions as you level up because your companion does not level with you -- when you first get a companion to join you, they become your level, and I think they stay that way

that being said, I love Vorstag way too much to let him go.

you can reset the characters level with the console.
step 1. take any good loot they might have on them cause it might disapear
step 2 dismiss them
step 3 open console, click on the companion, enter disable, then enter enable,
step 4 re invite your companion to join you.

should reset to your current level

Are there any good followers to sacrifice to Boethiah? I see that some followers can't be killed, but I'm sure a kill event like the sacrifice would deal with them.

I feel bad about doing it, but I really want that armor...even though I probably won't wear it

If anyone is using the 4GB unlocker on the TESV.exe for PC, there is an updated version 1.5 that will fix any crashing from modded High Resolution textures. Works great so far:

It is a huge underground city. It is populated with alien looking structures and even more alien looking lifeforms. It is moody, colorful, and mysterious. There's lots of good stuff to discover. Best of all: it is a non-linear experience.

It was just very well conceived and then modeled.

so i got Paarthunax to teach me the 3 extra words (fus, feim, and yol i think) but then i accidentally killed him right after. now it says i need him to teach me the shout to call the other dragon that i trap in dragonreach and i cannot. how to fix. i tried spawning a new Paarthunax but that didn't work, he just flies around and never lands.

He doesn't actually teach you those words, you already know them and he improves them (but only one at a time, if you pick a new one it replaces the previous one).

You don't need him to be alive to get dragonrend I don't think, since he doesn't actually teach it to you. Do you have any quests in your journal that tell you to get an Elder Scroll? If so just follow it and you'll be fine.

no this is after that - i already used the elder scroll, this is trapping the dragon in dragonreach. it says i need to learn the shout to call the dragon and it has paarthunax's corpse as my waypoint so i dont know how to learn the shout otherwise.

ok so i didnt accidentally kill him, i meant to but only because i read ahead for some of the blade quests and i thought i was done with him. i accidentally killed him too soon.

Tytanis made an update yesterday I believe it was, that Skynet and Skyrim Online joined together to work on the massive mod for multiplayer

Quote :
"The long term goal is to create a MMO environment in which hundreds of players can explore Skyrim at once, and where small groups of friends can join up to face challenging multiplayer dungeons. If cooperation is not you’re thing you can enter one of the arenas to face opponents in combat, or hunt down players in the open world (on a PvP Server). Of course you can also join one of the major factions and influence the fate of Skyrim, by cleansing the name of the College of Winterhold or strengthening the Thieves Guild’s influence."
