That's fair, here's the research:

Rider: 37.3% vs NCSU, 41.4% vs Fairfield, .424 season average
Fairfield: 36.8% vs NCSU, 40.7% vs Rider, 45.5% season average

So you're right, we forced both teams to play at a faster pace, which made them take many more shots. Plus both were down more against us and had to take those shots to try to catch up.

Out of curiosity, I looked up our losses as well:

Illinois: 50% vs NCSU, 47% season average
Creighton: 60.6% vs NCSU, 54% season average

Lumbardi has Creighton as a 3 seed, Illinois in the first four out, and NC State in the next four out

as has been discussed, RPI isn't really a great measure of how good or not good we are (kenpom, for example has us at 51). but the NCAAT committee obviously places a lot of value on it, so us being where we are is good. still have to win games and take care of business to make the NCAAT though, of course.

10-8 with wins against UNC-CH, Virginia and N.D. should make us a lock. I'd take that in a heart beat.

Posted all this a couple weeks ago. Haven't looked at the stats, but our FT shooting has gotten worse. Dorn missing, Henderson missing, DSJ missing. Those are the guys we need to count on to be very strong from the line.
