just heard on the news that 20 homes (nice expensive homes) in the Wake Forest area have been ordered to stop drinking and showering with their well water...EPA found TCE (which is really nasty) contamination in the water some just over safe drinking water levels some as high as 60% above safe drinking levels. Anyone who feels the EPA is a waste or that their guidance is too strict...ask those 20 families who would not have known otherwise.

^^^^ But for things like that, isn't the "safe" level set really low? So it's not like you go 1ppm over the safe level and suddenly you are going to get cancer immediately after showering in that water.

definitely, it is set low for a reason, TCE affects your CNR, and over time that exposure and is a known carcinogen and can lead to other serious and difficult to diagnose illness. They had been using that water for some time, depending on the source they could have been ingesting it for awhile. TCE is everywhere,and since the EPA makes a stink about it, that makes it easy for people to become paranoid about any level of exposure to it, even creating unnecessary hysteria. BUT the point was to say at least the EPA found it and reported it.
