Yeah.... I lived in St. Louis for 5 years... that's where and when I started to love baseball.
Did you guys see that catch Edmonds made the other day? That may be the greatest catch I have ever seen. 7/21/2004 4:24:27 AM |

i've been a fan since birth. i think you'll find a lot more cardinals fans than a lot of other teams simply because for seventy years they were the only team west of the mississippi. that's why my grandad who grew up on a farm in mississippi became so fanatic about them, and passed it onto his children, etc.
plus back in the day they had the dream team of harry caray and jack buck on KMOX, and lots of people tuned in to hear those guys.
to the people that post in here: why are you cardinals fans? i'm curious

oh and yesterday's game was amazing we overcame a six-run deficit and albert went 5-for-5 with 3 hr after losing the lead yesterday, the thing with zambrano, and latroy hawkins losing his temper yesterday, it just seems like the cubs are imploding before our eyes. i was watching him, just thinking of it as a microcosm of the frustration of the entire team over the entire season. nl central 2004 was supposed to be cubs and astros. they haven't lived up to expectations, they've had injuries, and now with a chance to gain a few games on the team in first, they got swept, including what must have been an extremely disappointing loss yesterday. i wouldn't say count them out yet, but dusty better have some serious motivational speeches in him if he wants them to turn the season around.
and further proving how worthless and stupid whoever makes mlb schedules is, that was the last time the cubs and the cardinals meet in the regular season
btw, i saw something on espn the other day that says the cardinals are in the running to get randy johnson, right behind the yankees. does anyone else think that's a bad idea? i mean as good as he is, we'd have to give up somebody great, and right now the chemistry is so perfect. i think one more solid starting pitcher is a good idea, but i'd be afraid someone like randy johnson coming in could throw the team dynamic out of whack. thoughts? 7/21/2004 8:55:16 AM |

if you look at the first post i was saying "w00t" when we were picked to maybe place 3rd
so suck it trebek i would still be standing beside the redbirds if we were the first team to 60 losses
------------ now for what i was originally gonna post, before this jackass pissed in my corn flakes...

some love from espn page 2
Quote : | "I am wrong The night I got married my friend Fred took me aside for some words of advice. "Listen," he said. "There are going to be times when you are absolutely certain you are right. There are going to be times when you believe, deep down in your heart, that she's wrong. But I swear to you, if you never listen to another thing I say, listen to this: You are wrong. She is right. And you are wrong. Say it. Say it right now. Say, 'I am wrong. I am very wrong.' Remember what I say. There will be nights where it will be your only shot at redemption. It will save your marriage. It will save your life."
I thought about what Fred said when I was watching the Cardinals dismantle the Cubs at Wrigley Tuesday afternoon, rallying from that 8-2 deficit. I saw Albert Pujols yank so many pitches over the wall I thought I was watching a tape loop, and I thought, Fred was right. So I'm going to say it right now. I am wrong. I am wrong to have doubted the Cardinals. I am wrong, very wrong, to have thought the Cubs could hang with this team. I am wrong, very, very wrong to have said that Houston even belonged in the same conversation with this team.
The Cardinals are right. Right as rain. Right as a rail, riding straight through to the playoffs.
And you want to know where I'll be on the Cardinals from here on out? Right in front of the television, saying "I am wrong," over and over and over again, like a mantra, like a desperate plea for forgiveness." |

so taguchi dropping the ball, sending us to extra innings - effectively helping the expo's win
of course, taking out kiko wasn't that good a decision
but the game was great got to see pujols + edmonds homer and saw 8 innings where we were winning
plus i got to see 3 innings free!
we've won 7 of the last 9 games, how do i manage to make it to one of the two losses?

anyway when i get back to school i'll post some pics of a couple cardinals-cubs games i went to a couple years ago (i got to see them play back-to-back series at wrigely and at busch, w00t)

i sat two rows behind the woman you're talking about
she clearly played softball as a girl, because she had plenty of chants and sayings...
she was reallllly loud and if you answered your cell phone she YELLED at you
she was great... but whats really funny is we didn't actually realize "she" was a "she" for the first two innings... 8/6/2004 3:19:19 AM |

Man, the MLB Cards seem unstoppable at this point. They just seem to keep on truckin' into the postseason. But all those wins mean nothing if they lose 3 out of 5 or 4 out of 7 in October.
