this is kinda neat.

Quote :
"The browser notifies you of available search engines that are compatible with its built-in search bar. The small triangle to the left of the search logo (which is usually black) glows lime green for a bit when the browser detects a search engine that can be installed."

Mine doesn't actually glow green, but a blue box appears around the drop down box but I can choose to add the search engine just the same

until avant whored themselves out to yahoo, this was one of the major features on avant browser that made it (IMO) far superior to firefox...this is no longer the case, though

wow, this is cool -
Split Browser - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/4287/

Split your browser view up, kind of like "freeze pane" in Excel

Quote :
"Windows/Mac/Unix (Firefox): The It's All Text! Firefox extension plugs any browser text area into your desktop text editor of choice.

It's All Text! adds a small edit icon to the bottom right corner of any text area in Firefox. The first time you click the icon, you'll see a dialog that lets you select your default text editor (you can also change this in the extension options). The next time you click the edit button, your chosen text editor will open a new text document. Then you just start typing.

Whenever you save the text file, It's All Text! will automatically update the text area in Firefox within a matter of seconds (you can adjust the refresh rate in the options) with a fancy Ajax-y yellow flash.

If you've ever accidentally hit backspace outside of a text area and lost your latest online opus, you understand the benefits that typing in a simple offline text editor can bring. It's All Text is very easy to set up and use. The one thing I'd like to see from this extension is a way to choose the directory that the text files are saved to, along with some sort of more useful naming conventions so you could keep your text files if you wanted. Either way, this free, Firefox-only extension is pretty snazzy."

I definitely open up new tabs instead of reusing them, so this helps

it's also better for saving images from webpages.

i wish there were an extension that kept track of your browsing activities (by site, day, hour, etc) and you could shut off access to the internet or certain sites (yeah i'm talking about tww)

it's not a plugin, but this is still bad ass:

Firefox Asterisk Revealer

Quote :
"Whilst on a page with any saved password that is masked in asterisks, paste the following code into the Firefox address bar and hit enter. A popup will appear with the password for that login page."

so is it more handy to keep that around or to use the built in firefox feature...

tools -> options -> security -> show passwords -> show passwords

is this really a problem that needed to be addressed?

it's handy if they have a master password set to keep people from doing the above things

But don't you have to enter the master password first before you can see the field populated with asterisks?
