No, it isn't really an issue of "amplifying powers" at all. The symbiote takes on the image that the wearer imagines... it can look like regular street clothes whatever.

Spiderman was actually unconsciously biased by Spiderwoman's costume (who first appeared as a superhero in Secret Wars #6 and that is where we get the black costume with the white spider -- see the picture at the bottom). Spiderman wasn't interested in power, he just wanted a replacement for his distroyed costume and used the "fabric" he didn't realize it was alive until he was back on earth and it started taking him webslinging in his sleep (which the symbiote did keying off of Spiderman's desire to help people).

When Brock wears it, it takes on that appearance and size because he is a power-hungry sociopath.

God I'm a huge nerd for knowing this stuff...

Didn't that armor fall apart after about 3 pages? That shit was dumb as balls. The only alternate costumes I can think of that weren't crappy were the symbiote and the Ben Riley costume (not the Scarlet spider hoodie thing, but that one one kind of interesting). And to be honest I didn't really think the clone saga was as bad as people make it out to be. Until Norman Osborn came back anyway. For me that's the point where the story irreversibly became garbage.

any how, in ultimate spiderman eddie brock is a less skinny kid, it seems like these movies are mixing a bunch of different things from every version of spiderman. topher grace could play that vemon, and he can still bulk up a good bit to, thats possible.

I still don't think topher is going to be Eddie Brock, but in the comics Eddie was not always bulked up. I wen't back and re-read the Sin Eater storyline, eddie used to be a normal guy. He bulked up due to his frustration over being humiliated after releasing a false story on the Sin Eater.
