This is a game that we absolutely SHOULD have a chance to win.

If Herb can't keep us close in this one then I will lose the 3% remaining hope I have in this guy as a head coach.

We should be able to neutralize Shelden Williams who is Dukes best player.

We have plenty of athleticism at the guard positions to keep JJ from killing us by getting to the FT line 10 times...

Then all we have to do is defend the three and take advantage of our strengths on offense.

I have a bad feeling about some of the calls that will go against us though... refs in cameron can be brutal

...and if we win we can look forward to another coach K "relapse"... or does that not take effect until they lose 2 games?

^^^ all the athleticism in the world won't keep JJ off the free throw line. he is the master of creating fouls, whether it's by flopping or whatever. he always gets half of his points against us on the line

Yea I honestly would say our chances of keeping JJ off the line are slim to none. Not that our defense won't play well against him but lets face it... JJ will get to the line in Cameron, contact or no contact..

I had my mouse clicker over the 'Buy Now' for $350 for 2 tix on EBay a few weeks ago... but I thought better of it at the time. Seeing the prices go higher and higher now I regret that.. I could've made some bank. Oh well..

Games there suck.

BTW - Duchess should be able to get in by going to campout the night before and offering some dork a free feel if he can get her a valid Duke Card.

There has to be a girl at Duke with blonde hair and large eyes.

Best chance is to wear Blue and stand outside of Cameron.

You expect someone to just give you tickets?

I want to see Cameron live before I move back North.

I've been to RBC, Reynolds, Dean Dome, Cole Fieldhouse, Comcast Center, Gampel, HCC, MSG, Carrier Dome, DuPont Pavillion, and Prov. CC for college games..

I'd rank them in this order

1a) Reynolds
1b) MSG -> nothing beats St. Johns/UConn when they are both good at the Garden
2) Carrier Dome -> sheer # of people is awesome to see for a bball game
3) RBC Center
4) Gampel Pavillion
5) DuPont -> loudest BY FAR but only seats like 4,500
6) Cole/Comcast -> tie b/c scUM sucks balls.
7) HCC -> dead pro arena
8) PCC

[Edited on January 17, 2006 at 11:23 AM. Reason : oh and I'd throw Greensboro Coliseum for teh ACC tourney there with MSG]

Villanova. It's really one hell of an arena for college bball but it never gets the pub.. Oh, the Palestra is bad ass too for sheer history.

V they play SOME games at the Wachovia Center (Flyers/Sixers home)...

Wow I learned something new. Nova is a top 10 team and their arena only holds 4,500? Surely they are planning to build a new one. They have a pretty good following and Jay Wright seems to have something going there in Philly.

No, I am looking for a fair price. I have had two sets of tickets given to me for games in Cameron before. One game was for the state game a few years back.

I was in the undergrad student section in Cameron for the '03 game.
We won the game at home that year so I was stunned to be able to walk up to Cameron 10 minutes before the game and still get a seat in the student section (I decided not to sit in the grad student section).

I was not impressed with the atmosphere (keep in mind I have seen several games in Reynolds) and really felt like the Duke students were cordial to someone wearing red in their student section.
One guy even asked if I grew up in Raleigh and that's why I was a State fan? I can't imagine anyone at Reynolds being polite to me if I was wearing blue to a Duke game.

Overall Cameron is not deserving of all the hype and attention. The best "cheer" they have is the "bounce, bounce, bounce ahhhhhh, pass, ahhhh, BRICK" cheer while the opposing team is on offense - that one has to be tough for the players. Otherwise it's not intimidating but annoying.

how you can use a game from 4 years ago for reasoning of this game is beyond me.

i really dont like the small old arenas. i understand that the atmosphere is so much better but with pro arenas like msg i dont understand the hype. i know it has history but when it comes to watching a game who cares. i go there expecting some really nice but old place and damn i was disapointed. msg is a piece of shit with bad viewpoints all over. the concourse has the feel of a subway station and theres not 1 thing nice about the place at all.

of the ones ive been to mci and rbc are the nicest while reynolds and cameron had the best atmosphere. how does being polite to other fans hurt the atmosphere? it doesnt help the other team in any way. being rude to other fans is just classless and i hope we dont do that anymore if it was bad in reynolds.

If it was bad in Reynolds? BAD IN REYNOLDS? You have no fucking idea. I got scared when I went as a kid, and it wasn't even close to how bad it was in the '70s.

The MCI Center is a shithole of epic proportion. Terrible sightlines, terrible press box, terrible teams.

Being rude to opposing fans might not seem like it does anything to the other team, but it does make a difference if you make the people earn the right to cheer in an opposing barn. If they still cheer, great for them, but there are lots of folks who'll shut up if you ride them hard for cheering...and every person who doesn't cheer is less support for the away team.

I was cheering my butt off for state - why not if someone made me feel like it was ok. That never would have happened at Reynolds.

that WRAL guy's list was pathetic. how does this Duke team not have experience? Dockery, Redick, Williams, Melchionni have all experienced many games as big or competitive as this one should be. if someone actually has good, legit reasons why they think State is in any way better than Duke, i'd like to see them

Duke - 87
State -78
