Though after some more consideration, 12 donuts is a lot...i mean A LOT, especially to be running on...It's probably more of a tolerance issue than a running or eating contest, similar to a beer mile. 1/18/2006 12:35:34 AM |

of course, but if you're a decent runner, you can get there quickly and leave yourself plenty of time, then not really be strained by hobbling along at a 9 minute pace or something on the way home. 1/18/2006 12:40:51 AM |

I think the main problem is the return trip...a lot of people can wolf down a dozen donuts in 10 minutes i would think, and most college runners can run in the 9-10 minute range for two miles. but different people respond a lot differently to food in the stomach so maybe someone makes it back in 12 minutes and an equal runner/eater makes it back in 20. 1/18/2006 12:45:24 AM |

I ran a 5k in 15:17. I'm not sure if that's a PR, i rarely time my runs. But, that's the time I got when I ran it in Hong Kong. 1/18/2006 1:00:10 AM |

^Haha. You had to drop Hong Kong. Nonetheless, I'm impressed, so GG.
The organizers should lobby Krispy Kreme to pay for a Golden Doughnut trophy that could be kept at the bakery in perpetuity and updated with each year's winner and accompanying time.

Dude, there's no way I place. I'm not 1337 like that. I mean, anything's possible, but when we've got 4:30 milers registering, it's unlikely. One thing I do have going for me is that I haven't vomited for any reason in at least 5 years. Don't waste your morning to come watch. That way when I fail, I'll be the only one let down.
I tried to get Staples to do this. He expressed interest, but I doubt he'll actually register. 1/18/2006 1:48:49 AM |

This is fucking stupid.
Doughnuts are ranked up there as one of the worst foods you can eat. It would probably be healthier to eat a dozen big macs. I'm all for people coming up with unusual ideas and making organized events out of them... but a transfat snarfing contest is not a good idea.
Then again, I guess this could be a steping stone for lard asses to jump on the working-out bandwagon, so maybe, just maybe, it isn't quite so retarded as it first comes across. 1/19/2006 2:28:31 PM |

I just hope someone's there to take pictures of me "leaving" a dozen donuts on the sidewalk about a half mile back - it just so happens Saturday is my distance running day (as opposed to hills or interval work) so I figure I why not pay $10 for a good cause, a dozen donuts, and some running buddies for an hour. I don't care if I yak on the way back up the hill. In fact, I'd RATHER throw up - that means I won't be ingesting all 2300 calories... 1/19/2006 3:31:59 PM |
