We got Thomas Davis and Danny Morgan at linebacker now, and a bunch of unproven young white fucks (Ciurcui, Seward, Tufts).
I wouldn't mind looking at someone like Ernine Sims or Demeco Ryan, maybe even Manny, with our first round pick. 3/24/2006 4:41:19 PM |

I think they need to spend a pick on someone whose job it will be to smack Keyshawn over the head with something heavy and blunt when he fucks up the team chemistry. 3/24/2006 4:41:45 PM |

they usually don't, which makes me think they heard things that made them confident that he'd be ok.
Hurney even said that they talked to people from previous teams. 3/25/2006 3:15:00 PM |

I have faith in Hurney. He has a good track record of free agent signings. To those people talking about how we should have kept Muhammad, Muhammad asked for a whole lot more money than Keyshawn Johnson, and their productions last year were very similar. IIRC, Muhammad signed a $30 millions contract, and Johnson signed a $14 millions. Big difference in money. 3/25/2006 3:24:10 PM |

^definitely a good point, i think most people are cautious about him b/c the panthers have such great character on the team and somebody like keyshawn could easily screw that up (TO repeat). the team chemistry is a large part of why the panthers have been successful under Fox. i think we just need to wait til fall and then make a decision on him. he's either going to be a huge plus or a huge disappointment. 3/25/2006 3:48:08 PM |

Lou, don't be stupid
6 td's is not a problem for a posession receiver, which is what Keyshawn is.
that is PLENTY, as he will not be asked to necessarily catch td's, but to be the go to guy on 3rd and 5, or to open the sideline for DeShaun.
shouldn't you be riding the bears jock anyway? 3/25/2006 8:56:44 PM |

probably the 2nd worst signing this offseason
the first being the randel-el signing 3/25/2006 10:39:38 PM |

its not like smith will get a ton more catches than johnson, with smith out there it will leave more room for johnson than he ever had before, i wouldnt be surprised if he did get more numbers 3/25/2006 11:12:59 PM |

randle-el has a superbowl ring on his finger. never a bad signing.
go look at some of the smaller names who got paid as much as he did for the truly bad signings. 3/26/2006 12:20:49 PM |

^^like who
your reasoning doesnt make sense
especially for a guy who has never caught 50 passes in a season and has 1 year over 600 yds (601yds) receiving
he is going to be the next moronic, vastly overpaid skins failure

they got a guy with leadership who can catch, return punts/kickoffs and would be a better qb than anyone the skins have now.
as for the actual topic thread, i think he is a great pickup as long as they can keep his ego under control. but a competition between him and smith will do amazing things for the panthers. 3/26/2006 2:25:26 PM |

I actually like this move.
Keyshawn is a bit of a tool, but he's a damn good receiver. They have enough big names in the locker room so nobody will be intimidated by him. It will NOT be a TO situation where the players act like a bunch of girls and keep their emotions bottled up inside and get mad and cry to the media about how Johnson hurt their feelings.
And Tampa Bay was full of hot heads in the first place. Between the coach, Warren Sapp, and him...bad situation.
Plus, Keyshawn sounds like he wants to be here, so that should help the situation. 3/26/2006 2:34:21 PM |

^ have you ever heard of a player signing with a team and NOT saying they wanted to be there? it's just the generic signing speech, talking about how great the team is. plus if he didn't want to be here he wouldn't of signed 3/26/2006 3:26:21 PM |

^^he didnt have to sign with the panthers. We were not the only team willing to sign him. Lets not read into that too much smart ass. It was kinda out of the blue, and nobody made too big a deal about it. Its not like he had a long drawn out media hyped search and finally settled for the panthers. 3/26/2006 3:57:50 PM |

Sources in Charlotte, N.C., tell us that there might already be tension between diva wide receivers Steve Smith and Keyshawn Johnson. We hear Smith said the two talented talkers are going to "agree to disagree." They are two larger-than-life personalities who can coexist on the field, but don't expect them to be good buddies off it.
Got this off of ESPN Insider. Sure as hell hope this isnt true. I thought Steve wanted Keyshawn to come in. 5/8/2006 4:30:42 PM |

he was firm about not going there
That being said, who didnt really see this coming between the two? It'll be interesting to watch...I give keyshawn about 4-5 games before he's on camera yelling at Delhomme on the sidelines5/8/2006 4:46:58 PM |

i read the article in the charlotte observer where he said "agree to disagree". its context was "sure we'll have disagreements. but we can agree to disagree and just move toward our goal. its not about whether we get along, its about how many games we win." this is basically someone taking 3 words completely out of context and then trying to blow it way out of proportion. 5/8/2006 5:20:31 PM |
