One of the poorest reasons to keep a coach. He's a consistent easy out of the Tournament. Just because we CAN COUNT ON HIM to do this every year, it's not a positive thing.

If I was a "consistent student" that "consistently made F's", I wouldn't make it very far even though I was consistent.

Here is my take on everything -- I don't care if you don't like it

It is mentioned over and over again about how Sendek has taken us to five straight NCAAs. I'm sorry, but making the tournament should not be a WOO-HOO for us. With our tradition and facilities, we should be a lock 8 out of 10 years (obviously this may not happen for a bit with a new coach). We should not jump up and down for making the tournament. Things happen in the tournament, and while I don't expect a national championship every year, I would like to see a good show. Yes, we have done that recently.

My biggest concern is being able to "hang" with Duke and UNC. They are powerhouse teams; they have great coaches and great players. NCSU is going to have a hard team recruiting against them...I know this. I still think we should be able to play them closely and should not be blown out by either of those two teams. You're not going to beat those two teams every time we play them. I'm realistic; I know this! Still...we should be able to play them closely and grab a few wins every now and again.

This is bad, bad, bad. Whether you liked Herb or wanted him out, this isn't happening on our terms. He's bailing for another school; we didn't can him to search for a replacement. This will leave us scrambling to have a coach in place within the next couple of weeks. Remember when something similar happened at Carolina and a certain, unproven Notre Dame coach came in as a fifth or sixth choice? Shit worked brilliantly for them, if I recall.

If our job opens up it is, easily, the premier job opportunity in the country.

I'd argue our job opening is even more attractive than Indiana's was. Better facilities and finances. And if you think our fans are demanding...if Herb had Mike Davis's record he'd be a hero here.

We should easily be able to improve, even if we don't get a "big name" guy. It's unfortunate Mike Anderson is already off the market but plenty of coaches will be interested.
