now maybe i'm confused about what "best concert" means, but i'm pretty sure the proper response should be singular. ^listed 9, if i'm counting right. Are you just listing every good show you've been to?

i personally couldn't narrow it down to one, so i'm not going to put every "good" show i've been to.

i guess MAYBE i could say when i saw radiohead in camden, nj. but i don't really know.

you sure? damn I thought it was warped. me and 3 friends came down on our "college day" senior year in high school, we toured our schools (NCSU and UNC) and then went to the concert that night.

Anyway, blink sucked. And Jimmy Eat World was completely not into it. They actually told the audience to sit down.

\/ oh yeah, you're right. I remember that now.

aside from JC http://www.jupitercoyote.com and Beth Wood http://www.bethwoodmusic.com

Seeing STP play "Plush" with the crowd louder than the band and Jerry Cantrell on guitar w/ Scott Weiland in the crowd.

Close 2nd... Jupiter Coyotes in Charlotte the night b/f the bowl game. Noel Felty (JC drummer) and the drummer from the Blue Dogs got into a drum-off... Noel broke a stick threw it at the other drummer grabbed one and didn't miss a beat. (I have bothe ends of the stick)

3rd Collective Soul... 'nuff said.

Phish.

Saturday, March 1, 2003
Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, NC

Set I: Chalk Dust Torture, The Moma Dance, Foam, Lawn Boy, Character Zero > The Divided Sky, Mountains in the Mist, Waves, Sample in a Jar
Set II: Rock and Roll, Wilson > Piper, Also Sprach Zarathustra > Wolfman's Brother -> Boogie on Reggae Woman, Wading in the Velvet Sea, Run Like an Antelope, Carolina
Encore: First Tube > You Enjoy Myself -> Proud Mary

This show was absolutely amazing. It was before I could legally drink so I had only had a few beers in the lot, but it was still a ridiculous show.

Minus the Bear w/ Jesse Malin, Rocky Votolato, and the New Amsterdams 2001? (almost forgot to list that one)
Ben Folds last year
The Bouncing Souls/The Casualties ... can't remember, maybe 97?

Oh its probably much easier to pick the most disappointing concert, so here is mine:
Weezer/Ozma/Saves The Day at the RBC Center

I was at that Bouncing Souls show but it does not really stick out as one of the best shows. I think it may have been 98.

^And that Weezer/Ozma/Saves the day was not too bad, it was just in the wrong venue. I hate shows in arenas.

It was one of my early shows, so it stands out (that and the trip to the emergency room), so it's certainly one of the most memorable.

Yeah, and Weezer was my first and only arena show... I hate arena shows too (which was the main reason I was bored out of my mind).... but I was also really dissapointed in Saves The Day. I liked what I had heard of their albums up to that point.

1. boston w/ counting crows opening - alltell pavilion - chill as fuck friends and chill as fuck music in the summer of '03. it was a happy time.

2. pearl jam w/ sonic youth - greensboro coliseum - fall of 2000, and i went with one of my best friends. it was one of the first u.s. shows following the death at a show in europe. therefore, seats were placed on the floor, and no one was allowed to move from their seat area. i honestly slept through sonic youth's set. snoozed. i enjoyed pearl jam's set, but they played for over 3 hours, and i did get tired. coolest thing was that they were recording bootlegs during the tour at each venue, and they had everyone pass their recording devices up to the stage (pearl jam made sure they were allowed in by venue security). eddie messed up some lyrics in a couple of songs, but laughed it off. they really seemed to be enjoying themselves. and they only played "alive" at the final show of the tour.

3. peter frampton -> john mayer -> styx - alltell pavilion - summer of '04, i think. it was all about the music. the music was better than my #1, but the experience of #1 was better. i was really only interested in frampton and mayor, but left very impressed with styx. great performances all around. theDuke866 had also scored free tickets.

4. george clinton & p-funk - lincoln theatre - this past spring. due to circumstances, i missed all the other acts but the headline. it was sold out, but my connections got me in before george clinton went on, so that was cool. the music was fantastic, but george clinton wasn't very good (he is barely alive). i still hada hella time though, probably mostly due to the drugs i was one. despite the drama, and some of the chumps in our party, i managed to enjoy the show.

5. godsmack w/ jim rose circus - house of blues, myrtle beach, sc - like 1999 or something. mostly to do with that time in my life, who i went with, and what we did. so there's the sentimental value of it, and godsmack's set was money. it was also the first time i moshed, and i got some great pictures.

6. mindless self indulgence (sucked balls) -> method man & redman -> limp bizkit -> korn - charlotte coliseum - 1999-ish. again, the people i went with. the energy was nuts for the entire show too. being down in the pit was fun as hell as well. all kinds of shit was going on.

those are about the only big shows i've been to, but i've seen a handful of local/regional acts too. there are tons of bands and artists that i like much more than those above, but it comes down to a combination of finances, location, and fellow concert-goers.

Quote :

i forgot a 311 show that i saw. that was a good one, and i would put it at #6 behind godsmack. i also left out a hoobastank & incubus show, in the summer of '02 i believe. i put that at #7.
