my prediction for the twist: the lady is actually the evil one while the creatures are the good ones.
a la southpark xmas episode with the evil little furry animals that we think are good and the good mountain lion that we think is evil.

just saw it tonight. i wasnt a fan of most of his movies. they were all right, but they often times depended too much on the endings. signs was probably my favorite, but as has been pointed out, the ending was retarded. this movie however was very entertaining, though it does require quite a bit of suspension of belief. 7/18/2006 10:11:24 PM |

SPOILERS
Quote : | "A modest building manager named Cleveland Heep (Paul Giamatti) rescues a mysterious young woman named Story (Bryce Dallas Howard) from danger and discovers she is actually a madame nymph, a character from a bedtime story who is trying to make the treacherous journey from our world back to hers. As a nymph, Story is responsible to make positive changes in the lives of those around her with the help of a human vessel. In Story's case, her vessel is none other than Cleveland Heep. Cleveland and his fellow tenants start to realize that they are also characters in this bedtime story. As Cleveland falls deeper and deeper in love with Story, he works together with the tenants to protect his new fragile friend from the deadly creatures that reside in this fable and are determined to prevent her from returning home." |

Either way, these are things that I put in the previous thread:
Quote : | "I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the twist is that the "real" world is actually the fairytale world." |
Quote : | "Although....maybe Shamalan has caught onto the fact that people now expect twists from his movies. So it maybe possible that the twist is that it's a completely different twist, thus throwing the audience for a loop. A twist in of itself, no?" |
Who called it, folks?
Quote : | "the twist is there IS no twist!" |

I just saw one of those behind the scenes HBO thingies.
Part of me really wants to like Shyamalan since he seems to have some cool ideas. But some of his movies are so clumsily executed that they can bore me quickly.
And did I mention Bryce Dallas Howard? She still bothers me.

Yeah I didnt get that he fell in love with her. He got closure on his family's death from her. He said himself she was just a kid.

Just saw it.
Loved it. I bet a lot of people will hate it though, because it's a little different. Definitely not in any way, shape, or form a horror film. Based on the trailors and marketing, that's what I was expecting at first. And no twist, but I'm sure some people will try to say there was one.
Anyway, great storytelling and an interesting world. 7/23/2006 4:58:43 PM |

real people went to see Little Man in droves
Quote : | "As we no longer think with our hearts and accept that myths, superstitions, and fables are as true as we want to believe they are, we are lonely, cruel, and prone to violence. I’m not sure what newspapers Shyamalan’s reading, but no less than 95% of the world’s problems -- from terrorism, to war, to the erosion of civil liberties in our own country -- are the direct result of people in high places placing great stock in the palpably untrue; in fucking fairy tales." |

I liked Little Man Tate, is that worth anything?
I'd like to see what Shyamalan does with someone else's material. The visual stuff he does can be quite good, but the writing is terrible. 7/24/2006 5:09:20 PM |
